O objetivo do presente estudo foi de avaliar a utilização da Baropodometria como instrumento de avaliação do equilíbrio em mulheres idosas. O estudo foi constituído por uma amostra de 26 mulheres idosas (66,38±4,65 anos), todas saudáveis. Foram realizados três testes para avaliar o equilíbrio, em dois momentos (teste e reteste): Timed Up-and-go (TUG), Escala de Equilíbrio de Berg (EEB) e Baropodometria. A análise estatística foi realizada por meio da estatística descritiva (média ± desvio padrão), comparações e correlações (SPSS, p≤0,05). Na comparação das médias entre teste e reteste, todas as variáveis da baropodometria apresentaram valores semelhantes entre os dois momentos, enquanto que os valores de correlação indicaram correlações significativas somente quando realizados com os olhos fechados. Resumo: O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a influência do nível de atividade física no equilíbrio em mulheres idosas. A amostra foi constituída por 15 mulheres idosas, com idade entre 60 e 78 anos, aparentemente saudáveis. Para se avaliar o nível de atividade física foi aplicado o Questionário Internacional de Atividade Física (IPAQ). Após responderem o IPAQ as idosas foram divididas em dois grupos: idosas sedentárias (GSED; n = 8) e ativas (GATI; n = 7). Para a avaliação do equilíbrio foram utilizados a Baropodometria, Escala de Equilíbrio de Berg e o teste Time Up and Go. Somente foram encontradas diferenças significativas (p ≤ 0,05) entre os grupos no teste Time Up and Go a favor do grupo GATI (6,03±0,48 vs 6,89±0,88 s). Concluímos neste estudo que o nível de atividade física tem influência no equilíbrio dinâmico e não no equilíbrio estático de mulheres idosas.Palavras-chave: Nível de atividade física. Idosas. O envelhecimento pode ser explicado como sendo um conjunto de processos específicos, associados à inúmeras alterações com repercussões na autonomia, funcionalidade e saúde desta população e assim, refletindo na qualidade de vida. Desta forma, o objetivo foi relacionar os parâmetros neuromusculares com a capacidade funcional de mulheres idosas. Amostra foi composta por 31 mulheres, com faixa etária entre 60 e 78 anos. A pesquisa consistiu em avaliações antropométricas, através da mensuração de massa corporal, estatura, perímetros e dobras cutâneas. A partir dos resultados destas medidas, estimou-se a massa muscular (MM) e o índice de massa muscular (IMM). A amostra foi composta por 15 mulheres com idade entre 60 e 78 anos. Para o nível de atividade física, utilizou-se o Questionário Internacional de Atividade Física (IPAQ, 2005), gerando dois grupos, nos quais as idosas foram caracterizadas como ativas (GATI; n = 7) e sedentárias (GSED; n = 8). A avaliação da capacidade funcional consistiu de três testes físicos, teste de subir degraus (DEG), teste de sentar e levantar em uma cadeira (CAD) e o Timed Up and Go (TUG). Houve diferença significativa (p≤0,05) entre os grupos, apenas nas variáveis do nível de atividade física e no teste TUG, sendo em ambas, uma superioridade em favor do grupo ativo.
