Nas últimas décadas, as artes têm sido tradutoras de muitos dos dilemas sociais no Sul Global (GUERRA, 2021a). Através delas, inúmeros artistas têm expressado suas opiniões e tecido críticas e/ou elogios aos poderes instituídos. Múltiplas formas de arte têm sido dedicadas às vivências quotidianas insurgentes. Essas expressões artísticas são também atos de cidadania ativa, na medida em que envolvem uma afirmação ou luta por direitos ou espaço: daí, ser "urgente analisarmos os sons e os espaços como formas de agenciamento das vidas e das cidades", daí destacarmos a importância das "sociabilidades urbanas" (GUERRA, 2021b: 173). O simples ato de criação questiona o instituído, produz inovação e propõe transformação social. É através de processos criativos e de produção e consumo estéticos que os jovens (GUERRA, 2020), em particular, se dedicam a causas sociais, a movimentos alternativos de resistência aos poderes dominantes, à constituição de políticas de identidade em torno do gênero, da etnia, etc.; nesse sentido, aponta-se o importante papel político das culturas do-ityourself (DIY) (GUERRA, 2018) ou do ativismo cultural (GUERRA, 2019). O conceito de artivismo surge, entre outros, na literatura acadêmica, para dar conta de toda esta dinâmica entre criatividade simbólica e agência política. O artivismo pode ser descrito como uma nova linguagem baseada numa relação orgânica entre arte e ativismo, que apela à antiga ligação entre arte e política. Sublinha-se a sua relação profunda com as práticas de ocupação do espaço público e os emergentes movimentos sociais, apontando necessariamente para a decolonização da ciência e da arte.No Brasil e um pouco por todo o Sul Global, vão emergindo criações culturais e artísticas fora da lógica dominante da criação artística. A música brasileira vem sendo debatida nas últimas décadas pela historiografia. Um debate profícuo que tem por vezes saído dos muros acadêmicos e atingido um público mais abrangente. A História Oral tem ajudado nesse debate ao apresentar as narrativas de atores que fizeram parte da história da música brasileira, como é o caso da cantora Cynara. Ao abrir suas memórias e narrar sua trajetória artística, Cynara nos possibilita ver pontos da trajetória de uma artista que tem trabalhado nas últimas décadas fazendo arte. Seu depoimento começa na infância, na Bahia, e chega até os trabalhos mais recentes. É um depoimento onde podemos observar de que forma a cantora se posiciona enquanto artista, suas redes de sociabilidades durante a trajetória e parte do caminho seguido pela artista.
A história pública tem ganhado destaque no meio historiográfico, ao mesmo tempo em que temos visto um crescimento vertiginoso no mercado editorial, principalmente no que concerne à relação entre história e biografia. Diante disso, o artigo aqui proposto tem como objetivo discutir algumas das possíveis relações entre história oral, história pública, história do tempo presente e história da música. Para isso, são analisados alguns livros e um projeto que contempla a relação entre os estudos acadêmicos sobre a música e suas reverberações para além da universidade. Por fim, são apresentados o projeto A música de: história pública da música do Brasil, que tem como objetivo constituir uma plataforma ampla sobre o tema, e os alguns pontos da entrevista com o cantor Edy Star feita para o site A música de: história pública da música do Brasil são analizados no artigo.
