Content addition to courses and its subsequent correct sequencing in a study plan or curricula design context determine the success (and, in some cases, the failure) of such study plan in the acquisition of knowledge by students. In this work, we propose a decision model to guide curricular design committees in the tasks of course selection and sequencing in higher education contexts using a novel methodology based on network analysis. In this work, the local and global properties stemming from complex network analysis tools are studied in detail to facilitate the design of the study plan and to ensure its coherence by detecting the communities within a graph, and the local and global centrality of the courses and their dependencies are analyzed, as well as the overlapping subgroups and the functions and different positions among them. The proposed methodology is applied to the study of a real case at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.
In this paper, we invest the domain transfer learning problem with multi-instance data. We assume we already have a well-trained multi-instance dictionary and its corresponding classifier from the source domain, which can be used to represent and classify the bags. But it cannot be directly used to the target domain. Thus we propose to adapt them to the target domain by adding an adaptive term to the source domain classifier. The adaptive function is a linear function based on a domain transfer multi-instance dictionary. Given a target domain bag, we first map it to a bag-level feature space using the domain transfer dictionary and then apply a linear adaptive function to its baglevel feature vector. To learn the domain transfer dictionary and the adaptive function parameter, we simultaneously minimize the average classification error of the target domain classifier over the target domain training set, and the complexities of both the adaptive function parameter and the domain transfer dictionary. The minimization problem is solved by an iterative algorithm which updates the dictionary and the function parameter alternately. Experiments over several benchmark data sets show the advantage of the proposed method over existing stateof-the-art domain transfer multi-instance learning methods.
We investigated the antinutritional effect of white tea extract (0, 15, and 45 mg of the tea solid extract per kilogram body weight) incorporated in the drinking water of rats for 3 and 30 days. Gender-based differences were found for all these variables, except apparent protein digestibility and the apparent absorption of calcium, phosphorus, and iron. White tea extract consumption did not significantly change body weight gain, food intake, food efficiency, protein efficiency ratio, apparent protein digestibility, nitrogen balance, or the apparent absorption of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and zinc. Nevertheless, the apparent absorption of iron was slightly (15-18%) but significantly (P<0.05) lower in rats that consumed white tea at the highest dose compared with the control groups at both 3 and 30 days. Our results suggest that the usual consumption of white tea is safe, although its effect on long-term iron absorption at high doses warrants more detailed investigation.

Abstract:In September 2013 and in the Communication Sciences Faculty of Madrid Complutense University, we had the privilege to defend our doctoral thesis entitled Creativity in documentary feature film in Spain. Relevance of current events. Along with the methodology applied and the results obtained in the past research, our object in this new article is to add two new factors identified in documentary film production during the last two decades: ubiquity and collaboration. We explore some basic questions we encourage Communication Faculties to take into consideration.
