Biosolidis a material rich in organic matter and other nutrients of agronomic importance such as nitrogen and phosphorus. Its end is almost always in landfills. Therefore, its transformation into biochar by the pyrolysis process would be a way to associate its inherent benefits to biochar, enabling a more appropriate final destination. Given this work the objective was to produce biochar in order to evaluate the viability of use in agriculture. The biochar was produced on a laboratory scale at different temperatures and therefore the characterization of the final product was performed. As a result, the material has proven to be rich in organic matter as temperature increases, thinning the material and increasing the specific surface making the alkaline pH serving as carbon sequestration. Thus, with the constant concern of sewage sludge 47Colloquium Exactarum, v. 11, n4, Out-Dez. 2019, p.46 –61.
The toy is an indispensable accessory for the development of the child. In view of this, it is essential that it is free from contamination from industrial processes in its manufacture, which may leave traces of potentially toxic metals that can cause health problems. The Technical Standard ABNT NBR NM 300-3: 2011, (Part 3: Migration of certain elements), regulates the maximum permissible concentrations of metals that may be present in the material, being a maximum of 60 mg / kg for chromium and 90 mg / kg for lead. The objective of this work was to analyze and compare the results of Pb and Cr with the current norm for toys of different price ranges. The analyzes were performed by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). From the results, there were high levels of chromium in all the analyzed brands, values higher than allowed by the legislation. For lead, there was absence of metal in the samples.
More and more demanding consumers have made cosmetic companies invest in products and research aiming at improve product quality and enhance consumer health and sustainability. Some metals are essential for the good development of beings, but there are others that are harmful to health. Of all metals only 30 are toxic, and lead, cadmium and chromium belong to this group. These metals are present in the pigments used in the manufacture of lipsticks. The legislation establishes safety limits for the presence of these metals in cosmetics, since the risk of contamination is linked to their concentration and exposure. For this reason the analysis of potentially toxic metals in lipsticks is necessary, quantifying and comparing to the contents presented not only by the companies, but also by the current legislation. Thus, this study aimed to quantify the levels of lead, cadmium and chromium in lipsticks of different brands, using acid digestion method and determination by atomic absorption spectrometry. From the results, it was possible to observe the presence of high levels of cadmium in all the analyzed brands and the highest concentrations were found in the darker shades.
The reuse of effluent water is one of the main challenges to achieve a more sustainable development. Dyes from the textile industry can percolate, contaminate soils and affect water courses. Advanced Oxidative Processes (AOP), such as heterogeneous photocatalysis with UV light radiation and metallic nanoparticles, generate reactive oxygen species and hydroxyl radicals that can reduce effluent pollutants. This work synthesized zinc oxide (ZnO-NP) and titanium dioxide (TiO2-NP) nanoparticles in order to photodegrade methylene blue and tartrazine yellow dyes. The crystallographic and morphological characterization of the nanoparticles was performed by X-ray diffraction and high resolution scanning electron microscopy. The syntheses produced nanometric particles. The methylene blue dye had greater degradation by TiO2-NP (82 to 85%), whereas the tartrazine yellow dye with ZnO-NP (79.6% removal). It is concluded that the nanoparticles combined with POA are an effective alternative for the photocatalytic degradation of dyes.
