RESUMO O presente estudo constitui-se de uma pesquisa descritiva e de abordagem qualitativa que teve como objetivo conhecer as condições de trabalho e os fatores de risco da atividade dos bombeiros, de acordo com o seu ponto de vista. A pesquisa foi realizada junto aos bombeiros militares, mediante entrevistas, no primeiro semestre de 2012, e analisada por meio da análise temática. O estudo respeitou as normas éticas vigentes no Brasil. Os sujeitos consideram boas suas condições de trabalho quanto à convivência com os colegas, à estabilidade financeira e à satisfação em ajudar o próximo, e ruins quanto à deficiência de recursos materiais e humanos e ao insucesso nos atendimentos. No seu cotidiano de trabalho a exposição aos riscos físicos e biológicos são mais frequentes. Investimentos em educação permanente em saúde para a segurança no trabalho e a disponibilização de recursos materiais e humanos podem ser estratégias de promoção da saúde desses trabalhadores.
Esta pesquisa avaliou a estrutura fatorial do Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) em uma população não-clínica no Brasil, através de análises fatoriais exploratória (AFE) e confirmatória (AFC) e de invariância do modelo. Avaliou-se também a distribuição social do diagnóstico de rastreio da sintomatologia depressiva. A amostra total foi composta por 4958 adultos (dividida em duas subamostras). A primeira subamostra (n=1000) foi utilizada para a AFE e a segunda (n=3958) para a AFC. A AFE indicou uma estrutura interna composta por um único fator, que explicou 78,5% de variância. A AFC atestou unidimensionalidade da medida, com índices de ajuste e indicadores de confiabilidade adequados. O modelo foi invariante em relação às variáveis investigadas em todos os níveis mensurados. Por fim, as variáveis gênero e escolaridade foram preditoras da sintomatologia depressiva. Concluiu-se que os presentes achados suportam a utilidade do PHQ-9, sendo recomendada sua aplicação na população brasileira.
