The Synthesis of Pyrrolo(1,2-a)pyrazin-1(2H)-ones and Pyrrolo(1,2b) pyridazin-6(5H)-ones.-Condensation reaction of the methoxymethylpyrazines (I) with α-bromo ketones, e.g. (II), in aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution yields the methoxypyrrolopyrazines (III), together with small amounts of the desired pyrrolopyrazinones (IV). The reaction proceeds via quaternization of the pyrazine nitrogen followed by cyclization. The compounds (IV) are also obtained upon acidic hydrolysis of (III). Furthermore, quaternization-cyclization of the pyridazine (V) with (II) and subsequent hydrolysis of the methoxypyrrolopyridazine (VI) gives the target pyridazinone (VII). -(MCHATTIE, D.; BUCHAN, R.; FRASER, M.; LIN, P. ChemInform is a weekly Abstracting Service, delivering concise information at a glance that was extracted from about 100 leading journals. To access a ChemInform Abstract of an article which was published elsewhere, please select a “Full Text” option. The original article is trackable via the “References” option.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
