In the present paper, a new approach to modelling the ablation
phenomenon using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools coupled with a
physical radiation model is proposed, implemented and validated for
application in circuit-breaker arc studies. The present work shows that the
principal characteristics of ablation-dominated arcs can be simulated
effectively using CFD tools if the radiation incident at the wall boundaries
can be predicted accurately.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
