Corn was superior to wheat in water use efficiency (WUE) calculated by using total dry matter production. Manitou wheat under adequate soil moisture was more efficient in water use than Pttic 62 or Wascana wheats. All wheat cultivars showed improved WUE with limited moisture. Sunflowers were the most adaptive species at changing WUE in response to available moisture.
