Dans la guerre civile qui déchire la Syrie, les Kurdes tentent de tirer leur épingle du jeu. Toujours marginalisés par les précédents régimes de Damas, les Kurdes y voient une chance historique de mettre en place un système d’autonomie politique de type fédéraliste qui garantirait leurs droits en tant que Kurdes ainsi que le respect de leurs particularismes socioculturels. Mais ils rencontrent des difficultés à établir un projet politique commun car ils sont divisés en plusieurs partis politiques, regroupés en deux grands courants antagonistes. Où en est aujourd’hui le processus de construction territoriale et politique en cours au Kurdistan de Syrie, à l’heure où les Kurdes de ce pays ont à faire face à des attaques extérieures conduites par des djihadistes de l’organisation de l’État islamique ?
En périphérie de l’Iran, des espaces comme le Kurdistan d’Irak - tout comme Dubaï dont le cas est plus connu - profitent de la politique protectionniste de la république islamique et du différentiel transfrontalier pour mettre en place un commerce illégal important. La richesse alors créée a généré toute une réorganisation de l’espace frontalier. Elle a engendré aussi un ensemble de chaînes d’acteurs parfois fort complexe où intérêts économiques et politiques demeurent bien souvent entremêlés.
