Dominique Wolton (Demain la francophonie, 2006) hält die Zeit für gekommen, die Diversität, genauer: die kulturelle Diversität der frankophonen Länder (zu denen er Frankreich zählt) als Aufgabe mit hoher Priorität zu behandeln. Der Auftrag der Politik, so Wolton, müsse darin bestehen, die französische Identität insofern zu erweitern, als sie sich nicht auf die Einbindung Frankreichs in ein zusammenwachsendes Europa beschränken dürfe, sondern vielmehr eine frankophone, weltweite Perspektive neu eröffnen müsse 1 . Diese Eröffnung beginne mit der Anerkennung von drei französischen Sprachen:Reconnaître la diversité du monde, c'est reconnaître aussi qu'il n'y pas une langue française, mais au moins trois. (Wolton 2006: 90) Es ist neben der supranationalen Referenznorm nach Pariser Vorbild mit der "zweiten französischen Sprache" die Gesamtheit der Sprachformen gemeint, die in den verschiedenen Ländern der Frankophonie zu finden sind. Die zweite französische Sprache, die der Autor postuliert, ist also im Plural zu verstehen: […] il y a une deuxième langue, qu'on peut appeler les langues de la francophonie. Cette manière imagée, avec énormément d'invention linguistique, stylistique, parlée en Afrique, Maghreb, Asie, Amérique latine […] (Wolton 2006: 91; Hervorhebung von "les" durch uns) Diesen langues de la francophonie fehlt es bis heute an Legitimität -und dies nicht nur der Qualität, die sich etwa in der Prominenz der frankophonen Literatur zeigt, sondern auch der demographischen Quantität zum Trotze 2 . 1 "Il faut valoriser, au-delà de la francophonie, les outre-mers, les enfants de l'immigration, tous ceux qui viennent du monde entier et qui, en adoptant la langue et en vivant ici, contribuent à élargir l'identité française. C'est un défi que la France depuis une trentaine d'années arrive difficilement à relever. Au fond la France s'est ouverte, mais pas sur ce point-là. Francosphère, wo das Französische im Alltag niemandes Normallage ist, aber als Kulturadstrat die Lexik der lokalen Sprachen (bspw. in der Modeterminologie) bereichert hat.Nun sind die polyzentrischen Entwicklungen und auch -im Sinne sprachwissenschaftlich zu entwickelnder Untersuchungsperspektiven -Forderungen im Ansatz schon seit einiger Zeit unübersehbar 3 . Während man von "the Englishes" und den lateinamerikanischen, mittel-und nordamerikanischen sowie afrikanischen "academías correspondientes" für das Spanische spricht, kommt die Frage danach, ob man für die weltweite Verbreitung der universalsten aller europäischen Sprachen nicht auch von "les français" sprechen müsste, erst in vergleichsweise ...
