Tourism research has always been an imperative for the scientists and policy creators, so they can maximise its socioeconomic effects. In that order, all the factors that influence the tourism industry must be taken into consideration. One of the biggest characteristics of tourism and challenges for researchers is its seasonality. It is a temporary imbalance of tourism activities caused by many factors and can have many social, economic and environmental consequences. Seasonal component of tourism becomes more important with its development. This paper analyses tourism seasonality in Ohrid as the most popular tourist destination in Macedonia. Findings and conclusions are based on several research methods like: Descriptive statistics, Seasonality coefficient, Gini coefficient and Seasonal Indicator. Research results determine Ohrid as a tourist destination with a strong seasonality caused by natural factors. Paper outcomes can be useful for tourism policy creators and tourism practitioners for further planning and carrying of all tourism activities. Also, findings and presented methodologies can be used in further similar researches or in further analyses of overall tourism seasonality in the country.
Sustainability of tourism destinations has become the main focus in planning and managing tourism development. Despite existing legislation and an institutional framework to safeguard balanced tourism growth, many destinations fail to properly address it. So far, studies are limited in exploring sustainable tourism impacts from a policy perspective. This study follows previous ones in using the triple bottom line sustainability approach to define tourism impacts. It argues, in particular, for a nexus between understanding of policy perception and sustainability, and it applies this to tourist destinations in Serbia to determine whether they are operating sustainably. For this purpose, the data were collected using a combination of multiple methods, involving interviews with policymakers and content analysis of strategic documents. This study further suggests a model that assesses the extent of the sustainability of tourist destinations. The results illustrate the importance of understanding policy perceptions in shaping and facilitating sustainability and informing policy enablers on how to improve and reform current tourism development. The model can be adopted and applied to any tourist destination facing an inevitable need to re-shape their tourism development plans and policies, while the implications address the need to build a participative policy approach to sustainable tourism development.
Life insurance is very challenging sector in developing countries. Life insurance makes contribute at the investments in every country, so the more developed life insurance, more investments one should expect. One of the main aspects in calculation of risk in life insurance is using updated tables of mortality and forecast of the future values of mortality. There are many functions and models for mortality forecast calculation. Lee-Carter and Azbel Model for mortality trend calculation are used in this paper. In order to evaluate the results, data sets with the mortality in the Republic of Macedonia are used.
Life insurance in the Republic of Macedonia has a short history, if we do not count the experience of ZOIL Makedonija before the independence of Republic of Macedonia. The recent history of life insurance covers the last seven years and the segment of life insurance comprises about 6% of the total insurance market in the Republic of Macedonia. In this paper we analyse the development of life insurance in the Republic of Macedonia in recent history, taking the gross premiums of two of the best companies that are working in the segment of life insurance. Besides analysing the influence of the basic determinants of the development of life insurance (GDP, monetary stability, social insurance, etc.) we analyse the model of time series, with the purpose of making a model and forecasting future values of the series
