Neste artigo desenvolvemos algumas reflexões a propósito do filme de Carlos Saura Elisa, vida mía (1977) que teve continuidade no romance, do mesmo título e autor em 2004. O fato de ter se produzido uma adaptação de diferente direção (filme-romance e não vice-versa) bem como as possíveis causas que, 27 anos depois, levaram Saura a revisitar sua criação artística nortearam nosso trabalho. Através de recursos intersemióticos, Saura recupera a memória individual/coletiva da Espanha através da memória individual dos personagens. Ao abordar a memória histórica, Saura traduz para a ficção a devastação pessoal e social que a política oficial procurou ocultar usando-se do recurso do flash-back, o que possibilitou uma adaptação do filme para o romance com alto grau de fidelidade. Através dele, Saura apresentou as indagações, dúvidas e angústias do passado dos protagonistas. Verificamos, ainda, que a metaficção funciona como instrumento de reconstrução do passado porque o cenário teatral funciona como metáfora visual dos seus arquivos: um espaço imaginário depositário de recordações, marcado aqui pela encenação do auto religioso El gran teatro del mundo, de Calderón de la Barca. O diálogo proposto por Saura se estende ainda a outros autores do Século de Ouro espanhol como Garcilaso de la Vega ou Baltasar Gracián. Isso nos conduz à intertextualidade e à polifonia (Bakthin, Kristeva, Genette). Nesse sentido, será mostrado como o filme (1977) e o romance (2004) foram escritos de maneira polifônica, entrelaçando a poesia, o teatro, a música e a fotografia, o qual conduz à consideração do caráter criativo multifacético de Saura
Neste ensaio, debruçamo-nos no mito do sábio eremita, entendendo por tal a figura de uma personagem que se situa voluntariamente à margem da sociedade, em cujo seio não encontra lugar. O tópico enlaça com uma longa tradição clássica literária (Horacio, Juvenal) em termos de oposição campo / cidade que, por sua vez, oferece desdobramentos como o locus amoenus e sua variante, o hortus amoenus. e o beatus ille, em grande parte vinculado à estética religiosa – aqui entendida como oposição mundo real / mundo divino. Falamos, então, dos Milagros de Berceo ou do Viaje al Purgatorio na versão em catalão de Perellós e na castelhana de Montalbán. O Renascimento italiano (Petrarca, Sannazaro) recuperou os tópicos clássicos, replicados em autores espanhóis como Fray Luis na sua Oda a la vida retirada (poesia) ou por Guevara (prosa) em Menosprecio de Corte y alabanza de aldea. Não escapam ao elogio da vida retirada as manifestações da poesia bucólica de Garcilaso com suas Églogas, nem a contribuição à discussão que proporcionam mística e ascética, em especial, na figura de Teresa de Ávila, o que nos conduz a mergulhar na influência de Agostinho de Hipona: “noli foras ire...” Cervantes e seu Dom Quixote não são alheios à oposição, e o motivo da cova, que recolhem textos como o de Perellós, reaparece no famoso episódio da Cueva de Montesinos. Calderón, no drama La vida es sueño inclui referências ao sábio pobre e afastado numa famosa passagem. O século XVIII recupera o tópico da vida do campo, mas desligado de qualquer idealismo, através da obra de Mor de Fuentes La Serafina, que desenvolve a realidade rude do campo – em especial, dos camponeses – em grande parte antecipada nos diálogos de Quixote e Sancho relacionados com a figura de Dulcinea. Lógico que Cadalso, nas suas Cartas Marruecas e nas Noches lúgubres pregue, imbuído no espírito do Iluminismo, pelo intelectual ao serviço da sociedade como bom cidadão, e não afastado dela. No século XIX, época da eclosão da burguesia como classe social por excelência, bem como do romance, Realismo (através das influências de Stheldal, Flaubert e Balzac) e Naturalismo (Zola) ficam no foco, respectivamente, de cidade e campo, sendo que na Espanha o Naturalismo teve um cultivo menor. Contudo, fala-se de textos misturados, em parte realistas, em parte naturalistas (Fortunata y Jacinta, de Galdós; La madre Naturaleza, de Pardo Bazán; La Regenta, de Clarín). Achamos, enfim, no romance – primeiro no formato de filme – de Carlos Saura, Elisa, vida mía (reprodução dos versos da Égloga I de Garcilaso) a perfeita síntese do percurso da oposição campo / cidade na figura da personagem que protagoniza a obra, Luis, professor, intelectual, escritor, que abandona a cidade de Madri e sua família para ir a viver no campo, num vilarejo, e tentar realizar seus sonhos como escritor e satisfazer suas cogitações a propósito do sentido da vida.
