Pretendemos explorar o pensamento do filósofo Jean Nabert (1881-1960), com foco em sua obra póstuma (inacabada) Le désir de Dieu (1966). O objetivo é buscar esclarecer a noção de divino, de interesse para uma melhor compreensão da antropologia do homem finito-infinito apresentada por Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005) em L’Homme faillible (1960). Se, na visão de Ricoeur, o homem consiste numa perene mediação entre duas dimensões que constituem seu ser – a finitude e a infinitude –, não podendo ser compreendido por nenhum dos dois polos separadamente, parece que a filiação a Nabert pode ser verificada ao acompanharmos as reflexões nabertianas sobre a noção de divino. Isso porque, segundo Nabert, o divino não coincide com Deus. Ora, não sendo o divino exclusivamente predicado de Deus, ele pode ser estendido ao homem, o que ilumina a noção ricoeuriana de mediação imperfeita. Aos olhos de Nabert, o divino explica a aproximação entre homem e Deus no seio mesmo da experiência concreta, que é sempre finita. Mas finitude aqui engloba fundamentalmente a ultrapassagem da finitude na própria finitude. Para além do que possa nos dizer sobre Deus, parece que a noção de divino tem algo a nos dizer sobre a natureza do próprio homem.
Nesse texto, exploraremos a confluência de dois importantes filósofos franceses contemporâneos a respeito do problema da liberdade individual. Trata-se de Jean Nabert (1881-1960) e Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005), que serão lidos em seus textos de juventude: L’Expérience intérieure de la liberté (1924) e Éléments pour une Éthique (1943), no caso de Nabert ; Philosophie de la volonté 1: Le volontaire et l’involontaire (1950), no caso de Ricoeur. Nessas obras, ambos os filósofos nos legam a tarefa de recusar toda conceituação da vontade humana que a entenda como sendo constituída por fases, por momentos pontuais; em vez disso, eles a concebem em seu dinamismo próprio, seu ritmo de existência, no qual a decisão é apenas o ponto de chegada. É nesse ritmo de existência que o homem livre, ao constituir motivos para agir e criar valores para pautar suas ações, termina por criar a si mesmo.
O objetivo deste artigo é explorar o conceito ricoeuriano de subjetividade a partir do diálogo que o filósofo desenvolve, no Prefácio a O si-mesmo como outro (1990), com Descartes e Nietzsche. Partindo da constatação de que as propostas de ambos seriam exageradas – o primeiro exaltando o sujeito, o segundo o humilhando –, Ricoeur proporá que se conceba o sujeito como um si, isto é, o resultado de um esforço de reflexão em direção a si-mesmo. Sem adentrar numa explicação minuciosa da especificidade do si em Ricoeur – que é, aliás, assunto que compõe a totalidade da obra O si-mesmo como outro –, nos limitaremos a expor as fraquezas que Ricoeur identifica na noção de cogito cartesiano; em seguida, apontaremos as fraquezas que ele identifica no que ele chamou de um cogito nietzschiano; e, finalmente, explicaremos de que modo a noção de cogito partido e ferido de Ricoeur, situando-se estrategicamente como uma alternativa a Descartes e a Nietzsche, abre um caminho promissor para se conceber o sujeito contemporaneamente.
