This paper presents an architecture description language (ADL) called ArchC, which is an open-source SystemC-based language that is specialized for processor architecture description. Its main goal is to provide enough information, at the right level of abstraction, in order to allow users to explore and verify new architectures, by automatically generating software tools like simulators and coverification interfaces. ArchC's key features are a storage-based co-verification mechanism that automatically checks the consistency of a refined ArchC model against a reference (functional) description, memory hierarchy modeling capability, the possibility of integration with other SystemC IPs and the automatic generation of high-level SystemC simulators and assemblers. We have used ArchC to synthesize both functional and cycle-based simulators for the MIPS and Intel 8051 processors, as well as functional models of architectures like SPARC V8, TMS320C62x, XScale and PowerPC.

Abstract. This paper describes a project management model named Converge, that combines Agile, Lean Startup and Design Thinking with the aim of producing user-centered software and sustainable innovation through empathy with users. The model is based on previous works combining the aforementioned methodologies and adjusted considering needs that arose from teams inside the lab, observed empirically. In order to test the method's validity in a real project, an undergraduate team part of an experimentation lab followed the proposed model to guide the development of a homonymous data storage app.The app was built in 8 weeks and, at the time of release, 80 % of testers considered it a better solution compared to ones they already used. Overall test results suggest that it is productive to combine the methodologies. The model met its aim since it guided the development of a novel software solution highly regarded by users.

The essential oils from aerial parts of Melissa officinalis, Lavandula angustifolia, Salvia officinalis, and Mentha piperita were analyzed by gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Their antimicrobial activities were evaluated against five food spoilage yeasts, Torulaspora delbrueckii, Zygosaccharomyces bailii, Pichia membranifaciens, Dekkera anomala, and Yarrowia lipolytica. Saccharomyces cerevisiae was also used as a reference. The oils were preliminarily screened by a disc diffusion technique, with the most active being the oil from M. officinalis. MICs were determined by the broth dilution method, and the main components of the oils were also tested by this method. The essential oil of M. officinalis at 500 microg/ml completely inhibited the growth of all yeast species. The main component of the oil of M. officinalis is citral (neral plus geranial) (58.3%), which showed a marked fungitoxic effect, contributing to its high activity.

OBJETIVO: Investigar a influência do volume vesical na avaliação ultra-sonográfica da mobilidade da junção uretrovesical (JUV) e do comprimento da uretra proximal (UP) em mulheres com incontinência urinária de esforço (IUE). MATERIAIS E MÉTODOS: Mulheres com IUE submetidas à avaliação ultra-sonográfica da JUV e da UP com bexiga praticamente vazia (< 50 ml de urina) e com a bexiga cheia. RESULTADOS: As médias, em milímetros, dos parâmetros medidos com bexiga vazia e bexiga cheia foram, respectivamente: em repouso: distância vertical da JUV (DVJUV) de 15 e 13,5 (p = 0,3347), distância horizontal da JUV (DHJUV) de 14 e 15 (p = 0,3767), distância pubouretral (DPU) de 13 e 13 (p = 0,8065), UP de 15 e 14 (p = 0,8011); em esforço: DVJUV de 0 e 4 (p = 0,0281), DHJUV de 21 e 19,5 (p = 0,7501), DPU de 18,5 e 15 (p = 0,1592), UP de 0 e 4 (p = 0,0479); deslocamento: DVJUV de 16 e 15 (p = 0,0047), DHJUV de 6 e 5 (p = 0,3542), DPU de 7 e 5,5 (p = 0,1789), UP de 12 e 8 (p = 0,0496). CONCLUSÃO: Comparando bexiga quase vazia com bexiga cheia, há diferença significativa na avaliação ultra-sonográfica perineal da JUV e da UP apenas no esforço e sentido vertical, sendo que as pacientes com a bexiga quase vazia deslocam mais a JUV e a UP em relação à bexiga cheia.

Abstract. This article describes the creation of a mobile application through Design Thinking (DT), User Experience (UX) and usability guidelines approach in the undergraduate setting. The aim of this paper is to present the whole creative process involved in designing a mobile application, within the ideology of Design Thinking, which offers a comprehensive, reliable and, above all, simple experience. The app was built by a team of inexperienced undergraduate students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Design at the Federal University of Pernambuco, during a process that lasted a month. As a result, the application has obtained a high success rate, being the third most downloaded application of all genres in the first week it became available in BlackBerry Store, and also getting extremely high ratings by leading technology websites in Brazil.
