RESUMOObjetivo: verificar se existem diferenças entre meninas e meninos pré-escolares e em processo de alfabetização, quanto ao desempenho em tarefas de consciência fonológica (CF). Método: a amostra foi constituída de 75 crianças do sexo masculino e 88 do sexo feminino, com idades entre 5:6 e 8:0, avaliadas por meio de questionário enviado aos pais, triagem fonoaudiológica completa, avaliação do nível intelectual, do nível de escrita e das habilidades em CF. A análise estatística foi realizada pelos testes: ANOVA de Duas Vias complementado pelo teste Tukey, e Teste t de Student. Resultados: o sexo feminino apresentou significância positiva nas tarefas: segmentação silábica com palavras quadrissílabas (p=0,03); detecção silábica posição inicial (p=0,05), posição final (p=0,01) e posição medial (p=0,04). Na análise percentual da média de acertos por tarefa, o desempenho dos meninos foi superior apenas nas tarefas de segmentação de frases em palavras com duas (média=7,52), três (média=5,79), quatro (média=4,56), cinco (média=3,93) e seis palavras (média=3,56), e no realismo nominal (média=8,93). Conclusões: encontrou-se desempenho significantemente superior das meninas em tarefas de segmentação silábica com quadrissílabos e de detecção silábica. Em análise qualitativa, as meninas obtiveram médias mais elevadas em todas as tarefas de consciência e rimas, de sílabas e de fonemas.
Este estudo configura-se em um experimento controlado com o objetivo de observar o comportamento acústico de sílabas CCV, ainda em aquisição, produzidas por uma criança com quatro anos e meio de idade e que apresenta as demais estruturas silábicas adquiridas. A estrutura CCV foi analisada na produção de palavras e de logatomas, a fim de verificar possíveis diferenças acústicas na produção da sílaba nesses dois contextos. Seguindo os pressupostos relativos à fonologia baseada no uso (BYBEE, 2001), o experimento elicia a produção de palavras muito frequentes, assim como de logatomas, estes com frequência de ocorrência igual a zero. Os resultados apontam que a frequência de tipo (C + [ɾ] –o não-marcado)se mostra relevante. As vogais de apoio se apresentam com qualidade consideravelmente distinta a das vogais núcleo correspondentes na maioria dos dados. A frequência de ocorrência mostrou-se pertinente quanto à duração relativa, uma vez que as sílabas CCVdas palavras muito frequentes apresentaram duração menos elevada quando comparada a dos logatomas.
