RESUMOObjetivo: avaliar o conhecimento da equipe de enfermagem diante das reações transfusionais em um hospital do estado de Pernambuco. Método: pesquisa de caráter descritivo com abordagem quantitativa, realizada na unidade de tratamento intensivo e emergência hospitalar, através da aplicação de questionário semiestruturado em 95 profissionais de enfermagem desses setores, durante o período de janeiro a junho de 2013. Estudo aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética do Hospital da Restauração de Pernambuco, CAEE: 0081.0.102.000-10. Resultados: entre os entrevistados, 93% foram mulheres, 80% com tempo de formação superior a 10 anos, das quais 49% nunca monitoraram transfusões de hemocomponentes ou hemoderivados. Verificou-se que 59% desconhecem o tempo máximo para a infusão do concentrado de hemácias e 76% não sabiam o tempo mínimo para realizar essa infusão. Quanto às reações adversas, 65% afirmaram saber identificá-las e 19% não souberam a conduta que deviam adotar diante de reações transfusionais. Conclusão: é necessária a realização de educação continuada dos profissionais de enfermagem a respeito da prática transfusional. ABSTRACTObjective: to evaluate nursing teams' knowledge with regard to responding to transfusion reactions at a hospital in Pernambuco State. Method: in this quantitative, descriptive study at hospital intensive care and emergency units, a semi-structured questionnaire was applied to 95 nursing professionals from these sectors, from January to June, 2013. A educação permanente tem a capacidade proporcionar aprendizado aos profissionais, esse aprendizado tem uma relevância ainda maior nos serviços de saúde, pois é lá onde muitas vezes são vivenciadas situações de vida ou morte. Há a necessidade em salientar que a motivação dos profissionais também é parte essencial para o bom funcionamento do serviço de saúde e que a educação permanente em saúde além de realizar a melhoria organizacional e administrativa é ainda capaz de auxiliar na promoção da motivação nos trabalhadores. Porém, essas melhorias não são feitas com facilidade, por conta do contexto psicossocial e cultural dos trabalhadores envolvidos. A partir da análise sobre a importância da educação permanente como estratégia motivacional no ambiente de trabalho e da reflexão da motivação dos trabalhadores no atendimento do serviço de saúde a pessoa hospitalizada, viu-se a necessidade da realização deste artigo. Por esse motivo o artigo tem objetivo de discutir sobre educação permanente em saúde e os pontos que levam à motivação profissional e, apresentar alguns dados sobre o contexto em que os profissionais estão inseridos e sobre sua crença acerca dos fatores motivacionais. Os dados foram colhidos através de entrevistas, que foram realizadas com 45 profissionais de saúde, sendo em sua maioria do sexo feminino, com idade entre 25 e 65 anos. Um dado que deve ser ressaltado foi referente a opinião acerca dos fatores motivadores onde foram estabelecidos três fatores principais na motivação: a remuneração, a chefia e próprio profissional e outro é a quantidade de profissionais que não sentem sua chefia os estimular o que denota a falta de participação dos cargos de liderança na motivação de sua equipe.
