El avance de las tecnologías ha cambiado al mundo de manera vertiginosa, siendo las tecnologías de la información y comunicación parte de la vida cotidiana de la mayoría de las personas. La educación es un área profundamente transformada por el uso de las tecnologías y la educación en enfermería ha tenido grandes avances gracias a esta, desde clases virtuales hasta el uso de simuladores son parte de las variadas herramientas que la tecnología pone a disposición para la formación del profesional en esta área. En este sentido, es importante destacar que parte fundamental del currículum de la carrera de enfermería es el Proceso de Atención de Enfermería (PAE). En consecuencia, teniendo en cuenta que el uso de las herramientas tecnológicas es una realidad del mundo contemporáneo, algunos programas de enfermería están construyendo estrategias educativas basadas en las tecnologías, para posibilitar un aprendizaje más integrado, con mayor equilibrio entre la teoría y la praxis de la enfermería y cuyo manejo resulta amigable. En virtud de lo anterior, el propósito de la presente investigación es compendiar lo relacionado con las herramientas digitales utilizadas en la actualidad para el proceso de enseñanza de la carrera de enfermería, especialmente del proceso de atención de enfermería. La investigación se desarrolló mediante una metodología de tipo documental bibliográfica bajo la modalidad de revisión. Entre las principales herramientas para la enseñanza en la carrera de enfermería y en especial del proceso de atención en enfermería, se destacaron la introducción del e-learning como mecanismo de enseñanza, por medio del uso de tecnología móvil, de las App´s y de simuladores clínicos. Se evidenció la importancia de la práctica clínica presencial, no obstante, estas herramientas tecnológicas son clave en la mejora de la calidad de la educación.
