O presente trabalho pretende desenvolver um estudo psicométrico com base na escala de inibição/excitação masculina. A amostra é constituída por 252 indivíduos do sexo masculino, com idades compreendidas entre os 19 e os 86 anos e os instrumentos utilizados foram o Questionário Introdutório (Nobre, 2007), a Sexual Inhibition / Sexual Excitation Scales - SIS/SES (JANSSEN et al., 2002a) e o Índice Internacional de Função Eréctil - IIEF (ROSEN et al., 1999). Assim, os dados obtidos vão ao encontro daquilo que é referido na literatura, sendo que também neste estudo foi possível agrupar os itens em 3 factores, tal como os autores agruparam numa segunda análise. Além disto, apenas no SIS1 se registam diferenças significativas ao nível do funcionamento sexual, ou seja, os homens com dificuldades de erecção não se diferenciam na predisposição para se excitarem, nem para se inibirem, sendo que as preocupações são referentes ao nível do desempenho.
RESUMO:O presente estudo teve como principal objectivo investigar em que medida o exercício físico influencia a satisfação com a vida. A amostra foi constituída por 219 adolescentes, dos quais 109 do sexo masculino e 110 do sexo feminino com idades compreendidas entre os doze e os dezassete anos. A média de idades verificada foi de 14,42 anos. Foram utilizados como instrumentos para a variável "satisfação com a vida" a Escala de Satisfação com a Vida (SWLS) de Diener, Emmons, Larsen e Griffin (1985), traduzida e adaptada por Neto (1990Neto ( , 1993), e para a variável "exercício físico" foi utilizada a Escala de Actividade Física moderada a vigorosa de Prochaska, Sallis e Long (2001). Os resultados demonstraram que os indivíduos que praticam exercício físico apresentam maiores níveis de satisfação com a vida do que aqueles que não praticam exercício físico. Observou-se também que o sexo masculino apresenta maiores níveis de prática de exercício físico em relação ao sexo feminino, assim como maiores níveis de satisfação com a vida. The study concerned a sample of 219 adolescents, in which 109 were male and 110 were female (n=219), with ages ranging from twelve to seventeen. The average verified age was 14.42 years. The instrument used as a variable for "life satisfaction" was the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) of Diener, Emmons, Larsen, e Griffin (1985), translated and adjust by Neto (1990Neto ( , 1993, and as a variable in "exercises" was the Scale of moderate and vigorous Physical Activity of Prochaska, Sallis e Long (2001). The results demonstrated that the individuals that exercise demonstrated higher levels of satisfaction in life than those who didn't exercise. It also provided evidence that the males demonstrated higher levels of participation in exercises and life satisfaction in relation to the females.

The sample consisted of 219 adolescents, of whom 109 were males and 110 were females between the ages of twelve (12) and seventeen (17). The mean age was 14.42 years. The instrument used to measure life satisfaction was the Life Satisfaction Scale (SWLS) developed by Diener, Emmons, Larsen, and Griffin (1985), translated and adapted to Portuguese population by Neto (1990Neto ( , 1993, and to evaluate the level of physical activity, the scale developed by Prochaska, Sallis, and Long (2001) was used. The results showed that individuals who practice physical exercise have higher levels of satisfaction with life than those who do not exercise. It was also observed that males presented higher levels of physical exercise compared to females, as well as higher levels of satisfaction with life. In sum, physical activity has a positive impact on the person´s life satisfaction.
