The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has been widely used in the most varied areas. Thus, there is a rapid and continuous growth of works using this method, making it difficult to monitor its development and the varied applications. Furthermore, there is a need for updating studies that facilitate the realization of new researches. In this sense, the aim of this work is to analyze the literature on the application of the DEA method in studies on health and education, considering the areas of administration, public administration, and economics, and to show the representative structure of this field of research. For this purpose, a bibliometric analysis of the article database and mappings was performed using the VOSviewer software considering co-occurrence of keywords, co-authorship, and co-quotation of articles, in order to present the structure of the field. The results showed an intense annual growth of articles mainly in the last 10 years and the acceptance of works with DEA in the academic environment. It provided indications-main authors, articles, and keywords-useful as a basis for new studies, as well as a network of institutions, researchers, and countries working in the field. Furthermore, through the volume of studies identified and the selection of the most relevant ones, the existence of literature with examples of the application of the use of the DEA model is considered as a tool that provides support to managers and other interested parties to make evaluations of programs, units and policies public.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
