Wenn Adsorptionsvorgänge zwischen wäßrigen Salzlösungen und oxydischen Adsorbentien einen über das Ionenprodukt des Wassers gekoppelten doppelten H+/Metallkationen‐ und OH+/Säurerestionenaustausch darstellen, so müssen sich mit verändertem Mengenverhältnis A (Adsorbens: Lösung) der pH‐Wert des Adsorptionsmilieus und die „Konzentrationen der Ionen im adsorbierten Zustande”︁ in ganz bestimmter Weise ändern. Diese Folgerungen der Ionenaustauschtheorie wurden experimentell an den drei Salzen KCl, NiCl2 und CuCl2 mit den drei Verhältnissen A = 0,1; 0,3 und 0,5 überprüft. Die wesentlichen experimentellen Ergebnisse sind in Übereinstimmung mit einem doppelten Austausch. ‐ Die Verschiebung der „Konzentration im adsorbierten Zustande”︁ eines mehradsorbierten Ions erfolgt in anderer Weise, als es bei einer Fällung der Fall sein müßte. Adsorptionsversuche mit variablem A gestatten deshalb, für bestimmte Konzentrationsbereiche eine sichere Entscheidung zwischen doppeltem Ionenaustausch und Fällung zu treffen.
