Acute respiratory tract infections are common in infants, particularly in the case of bronchiolitis. A poor evolution raises the possibility of other etiologies, such as tuberculosis. We present the case of a 4-monthold boy with respiratory distress of torpid evolution who was diagnosed with mediastinal tuberculous lymphadenitis, a rare form of tuberculosis that is difficult to diagnose.
Stevens-Johnson syndrome is an uncommon mucocutaneous disease usually considered as severe drug reactions, and other different agents can take part in its etiopathogenesis, including infections such as the one caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae. We describe the clinical evolution, diagnosis, and treatment of an 8-year-old boy with mucous injury associated to an infection by M. pneumoniae and present a review of all cases published in the last 8 years.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
