RESUMO.O objetivo deste trabalho é entender e compreender a qualidade de vida dos animais que praticam esportes, e vivenciar o dia a dia desses animais e a sua realidade em relação a qualidade de vida e o bem-estar animal. Para isso foi abordado o bem-estar dos animais na prática esportiva, desmistificar alguns conceitos do rodeio e mostrar os benefícios e a história do rodeio, nesse contexto, foi abordado às definições do esporte, o condicionamento físico dos animais juntamente com os tipos de tratamento e treinamento, os benefícios e os malefícios desse esporte radical, por todos esses aspectos, quando o rodeio é realizado de forma fiscalizada, os animais tendem a não sofrerem maus tratos, além de serem considerados atletas e trabalharem por noite apenas 8 segundos e terem um tratamento diferenciado dos demais animais de produção.Palavras chave: touros, cavalos, festa do peão, bem-estar animalThe origin of the rodeo in Brazil: its practice as radical sport and welfare of animal riding ABSTRACT. The objective of this work is to understand and understand the quality of life of animals that practice sports, and to experience the daily lives of these animals and their reality in relation to quality of life and animal welfare. O entrópio é uma afecção oftálmica que acontece quando a margem palpebral se inverte parcial ou totalmente, possibilitando o contato dos pelos da porção externa da pálpebra com a córnea e/ou com a conjuntiva, sendo acentuado pelas pregas nasais exuberantes em cães braquicefálicos, os quais apresentam frequentemente alterações oculares relacionadas a predisposição racial por sua conformação anatômica. Os sinais clínicos encontrados incluem epífora, secreção mucopurulenta, blefaroespasmo e, além disso, devido a irritação crônica na córnea, observa-se sinais de edema, vascularização, granulação, pigmentação e até mesmo úlceras, sendo elas superficiais ou profundas. O diagnóstico é realizado pelo médico veterinário durante o exame clínico através da observação cuidadosa da inversão da margem palpebral em direção a córnea e/ou conjuntiva, sendo o procedimento cirúrgico o tratamento indicado. O objetivo desse trabalho consiste na descrição do procedimento de ressecção da prega cutânea nasal para correção de entrópio em um cão da raça Pug.
Os rins são órgãos responsáveis por manter a homeostasia do organismo, tanto nos humanos como nos animais. A perda de sua função promove a retenção de solutos que deveriam ser excretados e a não reabsorção de compostos importantes para o corpo, ocasionando em toxicidade e deficiências. Quando a doença renal se encontra avançada uma das consequências é o hiperparatireodismo secundário, sendo ele caracterizado pelo aumento contínuo da secreção do paratormônio, uma resposta fisiológica devido a diminuição do cálcio ionizado. A sintomatologia depende do grau de evolução da enfermidade, sendo a osteodistrofia frequentemente descrita nos casos com acometimento das glândulas paratireoide. Alterações como normocalcemia ou hipercalcemia associada à hiperfosfatemia e exames condizentes com doença renal crônica, confirmam a suspeita. O prognóstico para pacientes com esse agravamento costuma desfavorável. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste artigo consiste em realizar a descrição de um caso atendido de um canino, Shih tzu, onde através de exame clinico, laboratorial e de imagem foi possível concluir o diagnóstico de hiperpartireoidismo secundário renal.
A alergia alimentar é bastante citada em cães e humanos, mas nos gatos são poucos os relatos que a diferenciam da síndrome da pele atópica felina, sendo a sintomatologia parecida. O prurido de face e região cervical nessa espécie é frequentemente relatado. O diagnóstico finitivo é realizado através da exclusão de outras afecções dermatológicas e testes alimentares. A dieta de eliminação consiste em retirar algum nutriente da dieta por determinado período e posteriormente realizar desafios com o mesmo alimento, com intuito de um diagnóstico cauteloso. Caso o paciente apresente sinais clínicos durante o desafio, ele será considerado alérgico para esse alimento. Diante do fato de não existirem critérios bem definidos para essa doença e do aumento da casuística na clínica, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo relatar o caso de um felino, SRD que, após ser tratado sem sucesso por outras enfermidades cutâneas, demonstrou melhora clínica com o tratamento para alergia alimentar.
