Considerações iniciaisO termo "invenção" nos remete à ideia de que nos referimos ao novo. Seja pela transformação de situação existente, seja pela criação de algo trazido à nossa vivência pela primeira vez, sempre que expostos ao termo "invenção", teremos a expectativa de ir ao encontro do recém-chegado.O século XX, por exemplo, foi época riquíssima em invenções e trouxe a possibilidade de o ser humano experimentar condições impossíveis de serem vividas antes das coisas inventadas. Se pensarmos em comunicação, uma das novidades foi o advento da televisão, pois permitiu ao homem assistir, em tempo real, a acontecimentos em locais distantes, o que antes era limitado ao campo da visão. Se refletirmos sobre a área da saúde, a descoberta da penicilina trouxe sobrevida aos contaminados por bactérias. Antes do aparecimento desse antibiótico, o quadro do enfermo era letal. Nessa linha de pensamento, várias áreas, como transporte, agricultura, urbanização, dentre outras, passaram por situações de ruptura. O que pretendemos demonstrar é que o termo "invenção" carrega uma perspectiva de mudança: o antes e o depois.Dito dessa forma, contudo, a invenção pode ser entendida como um caminho de mão única, qual seja, do antigo para o novo. Seria a ruptura com uma forma de se relacionar com o antigo. O tempo estaria sempre no futuro. Um olhar ao novo. No entanto, sem que neguemos a semântica comumente aceita, as rupturas também acontecem em relação ao passado, especialmente quando construído por meio da linguagem. Toda produção linguística não passa de uma construção discursiva, repleta de controvérsias e determinada por um conjunto de situações que, embora possa estar atrelado ao tempo passado, sofre influências de acordo com as novas concepções que o homem cria do mundo à sua volta no tempo presente.Na área da Retórica, à qual este capítulo se filia, a inventio é uma das partes do processo de criação dos argumentos.
