Ces combats s'inscrivent dans une tradition d'échanges culturels entre Rome et l'Afrique. Les indications chiffrées, en particulier pour des fondations, mettent en évidence la modicité des sommes enjeu et montrent comment les notables des petites cités cherchaient à suivre les modes venues de la métropole voisine. Deux de ces inscriptions bien datées, l'une du règne de Gordien III, l'autre de celui de Tacite, témoignent, avec le maintien de ces prestations, d'une vie municipale active au cours du IIIe siècle.
