Este artículo busca analizar la función de la Corte Penal Internacional (CPI) desde el horizonte analítico de los estudios críticos y los aportes particulares de la Escuela de Helsinki y el idealismo social. Para dar alcance a este objetivo, se comparan los principales postulados de ambas perspectivas sobre el concepto de justicia internacional penal (JIP), en general, y hacia la actuación de la CPI en su tiempo de vigencia, en particular. La metodología utilizada es la de un análisis documental con una fuerte inclinación hacia textos de corte teórico y doctrinal.
