RESUMO Um dos grandes problemas ambientais está relacionado ao descarte inadequado dos efluentes gerados pelas indústrias têxteis, uma vez que seus contaminantes causam alterações nas condições naturais do meio onde são descartados. Nesse contexto, os processos de adsorção surgem como uma técnica de tratamento eficaz no que diz respeito ao custo, flexibilidade e facilidade de operação. Nesta pesquisa avaliou-se a secagem do bagaço da cana-de-açúcar nas temperaturas de 60 e 80 oC bem como seu potencial como adsorvente natural do corante têxtil sintético. Entre os modelos utilizados para descrever a cinética de secagem, o modelo de Page foi o que melhor se ajustou aos dados experimentais, de acordo com o coeficiente de correlação (R2) e teste F, onde verificou-se que o modelo é estatisticamente significativo e preditivo, já no planejamento fatorial analisou-se a influência da concentração do corante, do tempo de contato e temperatura de secagem do adsorvente nas variáveis respostas quantidade de corante adsorvida (qt) e remoção da concentração do corante (%red) onde todas as variáveis foram estatisticamente significativas ao intervalo de confiança de 95% obtendo-se um valor máximo para a quantidade de corante adsorvido de 8,34 mg.g-1 e uma porcentagem de redução de corante de até 83,4%. Portando, conclui-se que o bagaço de cana de açúcar é uma alternativa ao carvão ativado usando comumente nos processos de adsorção.
Nesta pesquisa avaliou-se o potencial do bagaço da cana-de-açúcar como adsorvente natural do corante têxtil sintético. Na primeira etapa da pesquisa foi realizado a preparação e caracterização do adsorvente através da determinação do ponto de carga zero – pHPCZ e da Espectroscopia de infravermelho com transformação de Fourier (FTIR), verificou-se que o adsorvente possui um pHPCZ igual a 3,37 para o material seco à 60 °C. Na segunda etapa da pesquisa foram realizadas ativações ácida e alcalina do material adsorvente e um planejamento experimental do tipo Box-Behnken 25 para cada material adsorvente tendo como variáveis independentes a massa, concentração, pH, rotação e tempo sendo avaliadas as respostas quantidade adsorvida (qt) e redução na concentração de corante (%red). Os ensaios cinéticos foram realizados em pH 3,0 e concentração de 150 mg. L-1, sendo coletadas amostras a cada cinco minutos até 60 minutos, para os adsorventes in natura, ácido e alcalino. Os dados cinéticos foram ajustados aos modelos de pseudo-primeira ordem, pseudo-segunda ordem e equação de Elovich, sendo o modelo de Elovich o que melhor se ajustou aos ensaios. As isotermas foram construídas variando a concentração de 25 a 200 mg. L-1, com pH 3,0 e a isoterma de Sips obteve maior valor de R2 e Teste F. O bagaço da cana-de-açúcar mostrou-se atraente na remoção do corante direto Tupy® cor bordô 16, principalmente quando é realizado o tratamento do adsorvente com HCl.
RESUMO Os resíduos agroindustriais são materiais alternativos de baixo custo e possuem um grande potencial como adsorvente de poluentes. Partindo desse princípio, o presente estudo avaliou o potencial da fibra do sisal como adsorvente de corante têxtil. Antes de proceder com os ensaios de adsorção, foram realizados estudos de cinética de secagem da fibra do sisal nas temperaturas de 60 °C e 80 °C. Na ocasião, o menor tempo do equilíbrio de secagem foi alcançado em 180 min na temperatura de 80°C. Com o intuito de alcançar melhores resultados, os dados de secagem foram ajustados aos modelos de Page, Henderson e Pabis, Newton O’Callaghan, Logarítmico e Midilli. Os resultados mostraram que o modelo de Midilli mostrou-se o mais adequado para o processo em ambas as temperaturas. Quanto aos ensaios de adsorção, eles foram realizados em banho finito em que, se utilizou 25 ml da solução com corante, 0,25 g da fibra do sisal e agitação de 120 rpm. No estudo da adsorção, aplicou-se um planejamento fatorial 2³ para avaliar a influência da concentração do corante, da temperatura de secagem e do tempo de contato no processo de adsorção. Os resultados das análises estatística do planejamento fatorial 2³, mostraram que todas as variáveis de controle estudadas influenciam o processo de adsorção. Os maiores valores das variáveis q (mg.g-1) e Remoção (%) foram 3,23 mg.g-1 e 64,52 % respectivamente. Partindo dos efeitos significativos, foi possível conceber modelos empíricos para as variáveis dependentes, já que, todas apresentaram significância estatística para um nível de confiança de 95 %. Os coeficientes de determinação para os modelos empíricos foram, 99,64 % e 96,44 % respectivamente. Diante dos resultados obtidos, as fibras do sisal se mostraram como um excelente adsorvente alternativo, para o tratamento de águas residuárias, contendo corante têxtil.
