Determine the factors that influence child malnutrition in children under 5 years of age, in rural areas of the Simón Bolívar canton. Materials and Methods: An investigation was used, quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, exploratory, descriptive and correlational to obtain the data of the present investigation; for validation of questionnaire was carried out under the judgment of experts, an interview was conducted with saturation, a validated questionnaire was used and the pilot plan was carried out in a part of the sample chosen for the investigation. Results: After the respective validation of the quantitative instrument by the experts, a score of 95.46 was obtained from reliability, in the pilot plan applied to 17 participants on the factors that influence child malnutrition in children under 5 years of age, there are different results in percentages. Conclusions: Once the pilot plan was carried out, it was obtained that the factors that influence child malnutrition are: socioeconomic, demographics, level of knowledge of mothers or caregivers and eating habits; Therefore, it must be applied to the entire population under study, to take corrective actions. in improving the health of children under 5 years of age
