This research aims to find the push factors that create relationships between youth and shopping centers and examines how different mall environments also help create different emotional bonds towards the malls. This topic is further observed with an explorative study that obtained its primary data from interviews and secondary data from various supporting literatures as well as from a number of observations. The informants were 15 visitors of each of the following shopping centers: Tunjungan Plaza and Ciputra World in Surabaya; and Mal Ciputra and Gandaria City in Jakarta. The total informant number is 60. The research found several affective factors that support the formation of place attachment: physical factors that lead to indirect place attachment, social factors or social interactions that happen in the shopping center, cultural factors, personal factors (including gender, race and ethnicity), memories and experience, place satisfaction, interaction and activity features, and time factor. The different age of shopping centers also had an effect to the factors present. Studi mengenai Sense of Place pada Usia Remaja: Faktor-faktor yang Membentuk Keterikatan Tempat pada Pusat Belanja Abstrak Riset ini bertujuan untuk menemukan pendorong-pendorong relasi antara generasi muda dan pusat belanja. Studi ini merupakan studi eksplorasi dengan sumber data yang berasal dari wawancara, data-data literatur, serta observasi. Informan yang terlibat adalah masing-masing lima belas orang pengunjung dari empat pusat belanja di Tunjungan Plaza dan Ciputra World Surabaya serta Mall Ciputra dan Gandaria City Jakarta, dengan jumlah total informan sebanyak enam puluh orang. Penelitian ini menemukan beberapa faktor afektif yang membentuk keterikatan tempat, antara lain faktor-faktor fisik, faktor sosial, memori dan pengalaman, faktor kultural, faktor personal (termasuk di dalamnya gender, ras dan etnik), kepuasan terhadap tempat, interaksi dan aktivitas, dan faktor waktu. Dari pengamatan ternyata perbedaan usia pusat belanja juga berpengaruh dalam membentuk faktor-faktor pendorong tersebut.

The aim of this study was to discover differences in work-family conflict among women who work as employees and women who worked as entrepreneurs. The samples of this re-search were 189 women (98 employees and 91 entrepreneurs). This quantitative com-parative design used an incidental sampling technique. The measuring instrument was the work-family conflict (WFC) translated from Greenhaus and Beutell. The data collected was analyzed using Mann Whitney-U Test. The results show no difference in WFC among women who work as employees and women as entrepreneurs. However, the data shows that the majority of entrepreneur women has very low WFC in all aspects (time, strain, and behavior), while women who work as employees tend to have medium WFC. The results of cross tabulation show that there are indications of an association between revenue and WFC (time and strain aspects) in employee respondents. While the entrepreneur women show indication of an association between the ages of marriage, and duration of work with WFC.

Purpose The concept of power in the literature is not conclusive yet and still contradictive. As contested concept, power have multi-definition in the literature. This study aims to construct a concept of power between organizations, state-owned enterprises (SOE) and communities in the context of community-based tourism in Borobudur, Indonesia. Design/methodology/approach Participants were 29 individuals representing SOEs (i.e. executive members) and local communities (e.g. village chiefs, community enterprise, managers and residents). Data collection was conducted through interviews, focus group discussions, field records and documents. Using grounded theory, the data were analyzed using open, axial and selective coding. Findings This study discovered that power was fluid. At first, power was a static resource then when it exchanged, it turned into relational/power interplay and at last, became output resource. There was a transformation of antecedent resources of power into a consequential source of power through relationship processes. Research limitations/implications This study should be replicated in other settings for further research, for example, in a business-to-business context and business-to-government to develop a general framework. Practical implications Policymakers should be aware of such fluid power to ensure that community-based tourism programs can benefit all parties involved. Originality/value Findings from this study make several contributions to current literature as follows: this study extends from the existing theories of power, the community-based tourism context where this study was conducted represents actual social situation allowing it to be transferrable to real environment and elaborating theory of power into a comprehensive framework.
