A novel metal–organic framework [Cd3(TPT)2(DMF)2]·(H2O)0.5 (1) has been solvothermally synthesized using a new rigid unsymmetrical tricarboxylate ligand p-terphenyl-3,4′′,5-tricarboxylic acid (H3TPT). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that 1 possesses a three-dimensional (3D) framework with an alb-4,8-C2/c topology constructed by the combination of Cd–carboxylate chains and TPT linkers. The π-electron rich ligand H3TPT enables 1 to have an excellent luminescent property. The micrometer-sized compound 1′ dispersed in ethanol exhibits high efficiency detection for picric acid (PA). The high efficiency, stability and recyclability of 1′ make it a potential chemosensor for nitroaromatic explosives.
Extra-large-pore zeolites have attracted much interest because of their important applications for processing larger molecules. Although great progress has been made in academic science and industry, it is challenging to synthesize these materials. A new extra-large-pore zeolite SYSU-3 (Sun Yat-sen University no. 3) has been synthesized by using a novel sophoridine derivative as an organic structure-directing agent (OSDA). The framework structure was solved and refined using continuous rotation electron diffraction (cRED) data from nanosized crystals. SYSU-3 exhibits a new zeolite framework topology, which has the first 24×8×8-ring extra-large-pore system and a framework density (FD) as low as 11.4 T/1000 Å . The unique skeleton of the OSDA plays an essential role in the formation of the distinctive zeolite structure. This work provides a new perspective for developing new zeolitic materials by using alkaloids as cost-effective OSDAs.
Identification and quantification of dissolved oxygen (DO) profiles of river is one of the primary concerns for water resources managers. In this research, an artificial neural network (ANN) was developed to simulate the DO concentrations in the Heihe River, Northwestern China. A three-layer back-propagation ANN was used with the Bayesian regularization training algorithm. The input variables of the neural network were pH, electrical conductivity, chloride (Cl . Cl − was found to be least effective variables on the proposed model. The identified ANN model can be used to simulate the water quality parameters.
A microporous lanthanum metal-organic framework [La(TPT)(DMSO)2]·H2O (La-MOF ()), has been synthesized using a rigid unsymmetrical tricarboxylate ligand of p-terphenyl-3,4'',5-tricarboxylic acid (H3TPT). The structure of is constructed by bi-nuclear lanthanum clusters and fully deprotonated TPT(3-) ligands, which can be simplified into a 3,6-connected flu-3,6-C2/c topology with a point symbol of (4(4)·6)2(4·6(2)·8(7)·10(2)). The π-electron rich ligand H3TPT enables to have blue luminescence when excited at 342 nm at ambient temperature. Meanwhile, exhibits the selective detection of picric acid (PA) and Fe(3+) ions in ethanol solution over other nitroaromatic compounds and metal ions. The high quenching efficiency and selectivity of makes it a potential bi-functional chemosensor for both PA and Fe(3+) ions.

Chemotherapy is one of the main treatments for ovarian cancer (OC). Cisplatin combined with paclitaxel is a commonly used chemotherapy regimen. However, effective cancer therapy is hindered by a patient's resistance to cisplatin. The mechanism that potentially leads to that resistance is unclear. The current study examined the mechanism by which Linc00312 is involved in resistance to cisplatin in OC. Quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR) was used to test for expression of Linc00312 in freshly frozen tissue samples of OC and in SKOV3 and SKOV3/DDP cells. In situ hybridization was performed to examine the distribution of Linc00312 expression in paraffin-embedded histological sections that were sensitive or resistant to cisplatin. The cell counting kit-8 assay was used to detect cell viability. Flow cytometry was used to measure cell apoptosis. RT-qPCR was performed to confirm changes in expression of MDR1, MRP1, Bcl-2, Bax, Caspase-3, and Caspase-9 mRNA. Levels of MDR1, Bcl-2, Bax, Caspase-3, and Caspase-9 protein were detected with Western blotting. Experiments indicated that the expression of Linc00312 decreased significantly in SKOV3/DDP cells compared to that in SKOV3 cells. Upregulation of Linc00312 can considerably increase the sensitivity of SKOV3/DDP cells to cisplatin, while down-regulation of Linc00312 has the exact opposite effect in SKOV3 cells. Linc00312 enhanced the sensitivity of SKOV3/DDP cells to cisplatin by promoting cell apoptosis via the Bcl-2/Caspase-3 signaling pathway. These findings suggest that Linc00312 may be a promising clinical strategy for the treatment of drug-resistant OC.
