Amoxicillin (AMX), an antibiotic in the class of beta-lactam antibiotics has shown an ability of adsorption onto the economical, simple graphite pencil electrode (GPE) and could be electrochemical oxidation. The oxidation peak signal of AMX on the treated electrode is better than the one on the original GPE that is in agreement with the increase of redoxidation peaks of Fe(II)/Fe(III) system when using treated electrode. The square wave Voltammetric signals of AMX have exhibited a direct proportion to AMX concentrations in analytical solution with the correlation coefficient of 0.996. The limit of detection is 0.224 µM that is comparable with ones in many reported publications while GPE electrode is less complicated for fabrication.
Resistant starch is particularly concerned with beneficial effects in regulating blood glucose concentration and lipid metabolism, reducing the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. This study aimed to validate the effects of wheat starch acetate containing 32.1% resistant starch on postprandial blood glucose response and lipid profile on obesity, dyslipidemia Swiss mice induced by a high-fat diet. The result showed that there was a restriction on postprandial hyperglycemia and remained stable for 2 hours after meal efficiently comparing with the control group fed natural wheat starch. Simultaneously, when maintaining the dose of 5g/kg once or twice a day for 8 weeks, wheat starch acetate to be able to reduce body weight and blood glucose, triglyceride, cholesterol levels compared to the control group (p<0.05).
The industrialization explosion and agricultural activities, human disruption in the biochemical cycle of elements has increased the concentration of heavy metal contaminants in ground and water surface. It creates public concern about the pollution of water sources when the demand for quality of life is increasing. Therefore, the modification of biochar derived from rice husk can create the novel material had the potential for application in effective removal of Pb from wastewater. Adsorption has been regarded as a promising strategy for the elimination of persistent heavy metals pollutants in water. Biochar (BC) derived from rice husk is an environmentally friendly sorbent for contaminants removal. This study focused on the impact of functional groups to enhance the removal of lead (Pb) by biochar material. The results are when used alginate modified biochar (MBC) to alter rice husk biochar (RhBC), the highest sorption capacities for Pb are enhanced from 33.61 mg g-1 to 101.44 mg g-1. Application of the Langmuir - Freundlich adsorption isotherm and pseudo second kinetic equation show that the sorption mechanisms of Pb by MBC influenced by both physisorption and chemisorption with complexation of functional groups is main influencer on adsorption of Pb.
Các điện cực với lớp phủ trung gian SnO 2-Sb 2 O 3 trên nền Ti/SnO 2-Sb 2 O 3 /PbO 2 được chế tạo bằng phương pháp hủy nhiệt. Nhóm tác giả đã khảo sát cấu trúc, hình thái bề mặt và độ bền của lớp phủ này. Kết quả thu được cho thấy khi nung ở 370 o C, hình thành lớp SbO 2 còn khi nung ở 550 o C, thấy xuất hiện Sn và Sb trong lớp sản phẩm. Ở nhiệt độ nung 420 o C và 480 o C, quan sát thấy lớp Sb 2 O 3 mà không còn kim loại Sn và Sb trong sản phẩm nữa. Tuy nhiên, ở nhiệt độ 480 o C, cường độ pic Sb 2 O 3 xuất hiện rõ hơn so với nung ở nhiệt độ 420 o C và đây là nhiệt độ tối ưu để thu được lớp phủ SnO 2-Sb 2 O 3 tốt nhất. Kết quả đo đường cong phân cực cho thấy thời gian sống của điện cực này lên tới 290 giờ trong khi mẫu nung ở 370 0 C, 420 0 C, 550 0 C thì thời gian sống của chúng là 115, 270 và 230 giờ tương ứng. The synthesis of graphene (Gr) - gold (Au) nanoparticle (NP) composite was achieved using continuous ultraviolet wave exposure. The functional groups were investigated with FT-IR spectra. From the Raman spectra, D-band and G-band of graphene were identified. As a result, the uniform deposition of nanometer-sized Au NPs on the graphene sheets was observed from the field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) images. The photodegradation of methylene blue in aqueous solutions is studied using various photocatalysts, including neat TiO2, Gr/TiO2 and Gr-Au/TiO2 composites. The Gr weight ratio in this research is 2%. The Gr2%-Au0.1%/TiO2 composite had the highest photoactivity.
