Sergipe e Santa Catarina. ABSTRACTThe study analyzes the determinants between child and juvenile labor in Sergipe and Santa Catarina states. For this proposal, this study was divided into three sections, besides the introduction. At its first part it shows the definition of child labor and its theoretical framework. The second section describes the empirical strategy, performed using principal component analysis and subsequently the multiple linear regression model, as well as the results which show that in both states child and juvenile labor are related to informal work in the agricultural sector in a context of low family educational background and low vulnerability at home, but in Santa Catarina children have been able to conciliate work and school in a context of good income distribution. Ultimately, the last section lists the final considerations.
