The Web has become an excellent source for gathering consumer opinions (more specifically, consumer reviews) about products. Consumer reviews are essential for retailers and product manufacturers to understand the general responses of customers to their products and improve their marketing campaigns or products accordingly. In addition, consumer reviews enable retailers to recognize the specific preferences of each customer, which facilitates effective marketing decisions. As the number of consumer reviews expands, it is essential and desirable to develop an efficient and effective sentiment analysis technique that is capable of extracting product features stated in consumer reviews (i.e., product feature extraction) and determining the sentiments (positive or negative semantic orientations) of consumers for these product features (i.e., opinion orientation identification). Product feature extraction is critical to sentiment analysis, because its effectiveness significantly affects the performance of opinion orientation identification, as well as the ultimate effectiveness of sentiment analysis. Therefore, this study concentrates on product feature extraction from consumer reviews.
The presence of depressive symptoms, highly prevalent in haemodialysis patients, is an independent factor of sexual dysfunction in male haemodialysis patients. In a comprehensive approach to the management of sexual dysfunction, a thorough evaluation of psychological depression must be included.
Background/Aims: Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is an important determinant of treatment effectiveness in dialysis patients. To our knowledge, there are no reports evaluating HRQOL of hemodialysis (HD) in Chinese patients. The purpose of this study is to present our results about HRQOL using the 36-Item Short-Form (SF-36) questionnaire on Taiwanese hemodialysis patients. Methods: HRQOL was measured by using the SF-36 questionnaire in 497 HD patients in five hospitals. Results: The following attributes, male gender, age <50 years old, higher education level (HEL), marriage status, employment status (EPS), less comorbid medical condition (CMC), and non-diabetic patients (NDP) were all predicted on a better Physical Component Scale (PCS). Age <50 years old, body mass index >18.5, HEL, EPS and NDP were all predicted on a higher Mental Component Scale (MCS). Scales contributing to a summary measure of physical health, the PCS score was significantly lower in women (35.0 ± 12.3) than in men (37.9 ± 12.3). However, there was no difference in the MCS score between women and men. In multivariate analysis, age, CMC, diabetes, serum creatinine (SCr), and erythropoietin responsiveness were significant independent predictors of PCS. Diabetes, educational level, SCr, and erythropoietin responsiveness were significant independent predictors of MCS. All of the individual scales were lower in Taiwanese HD patients than in both the general Taiwanese and US population. Each of the individual scales and MCS scores were substantially lower in the Taiwan HD group than in the US HD cohort. However, the bodily pain of PCS was significantly higher in the Taiwan HD group, although the mean PCS scores for the Taiwan HD group and the US HD study participants were nearly equal at 36.3 and 36.1, respectively. Conclusion: The physical and mental aspects of quality of life are substantially lower for Taiwanese HD patients, except for higher bodily pain tolerance. A number of demographic and clinical characteristics have a significant impact on HRQOL in Taiwanese HD patients.
New variants of porcine epidemic diarrhoea virus (PEDV), which emerged in Taiwan in late 2013, have caused a high morbidity and mortality in neonatal piglets. To investigate the molecular characteristics of the spike (S) gene of the emerging Taiwan PEDV strains for a better understanding of the genetic diversity and relationship among the Taiwan new variants and the global PEDVs, full-length S genes of PEDVs from nine 1-7 day-old piglets from three pig farms in the central and southern Taiwan were sequenced and analysed. The result of phylogenetic analysis of the S gene showed that all the Taiwan PEDV strains were closely related to the non-S INDEL strains from US, Canada and China, suggesting a common ancestor for these strains. As compared with the historic PEDVs and CV777-based vaccine strains, the nine Taiwan PEDV variants shared almost the same genetic signatures as the global non-S INDEL strains, including a series of insertions, deletions and mutations in the amino terminal as well as identical mutations in the neutralizing epitopes of the S gene. The high similarity of the S protein among the Taiwan and the globally emerged non-S INDEL PEDV strains suggests that the Taiwan new variants may share similar pathogenesis and immunogenicity as the global outbreak variants. The development of a novel vaccine based on the Taiwan or the global non-S INDEL strains may be contributive to the control of the current global porcine epidemic diarrhoea outbreaks.
Despite the fast boom of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters bearing borane-based acceptor, so far, no TADF emitter with a direct B-N linkage between N-donor and boryl acceptor has been reported. The latter should simplify the molecular architecture and hence facilitate the synthetic design and versatility. We report here the preparation and characterization of a new series of N-borylated compounds with functional acridine donor unit; namely: ACBM, PACBM, and SACBM. Spectroscopic studies were performed to explore their photophysical properties that exhibited prominent solvatochromism and thermally activated delayed fluorescence. The time-dependent DFT calculation indicated the involvement of substantial intramolecular charge transfer character for which HOMO and LUMO are spatially separated. For compound SACBM, fabrication of green emitting OLED gave CIE chromaticity of (0.22, 0.59) and maximum external quantum efficiency, luminance efficiency and power efficiency of 19.1%, 60.9 cd/A, and 43.6 lm/W, respectively, demonstrating for the first time the highly efficient OLEDs using N-borylated TADF emitters.
Bis‐tridentate Ir(III) metal complexes are expected to show great potential in organic light‐emitting diode (OLED) applications due to the anticipated, superb chemical and photochemical stability. Unfortunately, their exploitation has long been hampered by lack of adequate methodology and with inferior synthetic yields. This hurdle can be overcome by design of the first homoleptic, bis‐tridentate Ir(III) complex [Ir(pzpyph)(pzHpyph)] (1), for which the abbreviation (pzpyph)H (or pzHpyph) stands for the parent 2‐pyrazolyl‐6‐phenyl pyridine chelate. After that, methylation and double methylation of 1 afford the charge‐neutral Ir(III) complex [Ir(pzpyph)(pzMepyph)] (2) and cationic complex [Ir(pzMepyph)2][PF6] (3), while deprotonation of 1 gives formation of anionic [Ir(pzpyph)2][NBu4] (4), all in high yields. These bis‐tridentate Ir(III) complexes 2–4 are highly emitted in solution and solid states, while the charge‐neutral 2 and corresponding t‐butyl substituted derivative [Ir(pzpyBuph)(pzMepyBuph)] (5) exhibit superior photostability versus the tris‐bidentate references [Ir(ppy)2(acac)] and [Ir(ppy)3] in toluene under argon, making them ideal OLED emitters. For the track record, phosphor 5 gives very small efficiency roll‐off and excellent overall efficiencies of 20.7%, 66.8 cd A−1, and 52.8 lm W−1 at high brightness of 1000 cd m−2. These results are expected to inspire further studies on the bis‐tridentate Ir(III) complexes, which are judged to be more stable than their tris‐bidentate counterparts from the entropic point of view.
