In wireless sensor networks, geographic routing is known as an efficient method to transmit the data packet using the location information. Geographic routing relies on two techniques: greedy forwarding and face routing.Face routing helps to recover from greedy routing fail and is based on the planar graph in which does not cross each edge. However, the planarization causes frequently short transmission of data packet because it removes other edges except the shortest one. In other words, since the planarization removes the long edges, face routing could not exploit the efficient removed edges of communication graph. This problem brings about the excessive energy consumption of nodes. In this paper, we propose an energy efficient face routing protocol in wireless sensor networks. This proposed protocol searches the removed edges and transmits them via the edges.Simulation shows that the proposed protocol is more efficient in terms of energy consumption than the previous face routing.
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of a lot of sensor nodes having limited transmission range. So multi-hop transmission is used for communication among nodes but the multi-hop transmission degrade the end-to-end reliability. Multipath routing and opportunistic routing are typical approaches for guaranteeing end-to-end reliability in WSNs. The existing protocols improve the reliability effectively in small networks but they suffer from rapid performance degradation in large networks. In this paper, we propose the opportunistic multipath routing protocol for guaranteeing end-to-end reliability in large WSNs. Applying multipath routing and opportunistic routing simultaneously is very hard because their conflicting routing features. The proposed protocol applies these approaches simultaneously by section-based routing thereby enhancing end-to-end reliability.Additionally, the proposed protocol guarantees required reliability by the concept of section reliability. The real-time data dissemination schemes exploit the spatiotemporal commuication approach which forwards data at the delivery speed calculated with the desired time deadline and the end-to-end distance in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). In practical environments, however, the performance of the real-time data dissemination might be degraded by additional and inevitable delay due to some holes. Namely, the holes lengthen the data delivery path and the spatiotemporal approach could not estimate a distance of the data delivery path. To deal with this, we propose A Hole Self-Organization Real-time Routing Protocol for Irregular Wireless Sensor Networks. In proposed protocol, nodes around holes could detect them at deploying phase. A hole is represented as a circle with center point and radius. This hole information is processed and provided as a form of location service. When a source queries a destination location, location provider replies certain points for avoiding holes as well as destination location. Thus, the source could set desired speed toward the destination via the points.Performance evaluation shows that provides better real-time service in practical environments.
