The rapid development of technology and the use of smartphones and mobile applications (apps), have become significant and influential in today's living. Despite the growing amount of research on mobile apps usage, little is known on the role they play in shaping the behaviour of the mobile consumer. By deploying the framework, this study revises Sheth's fundamental propositions of consumption values. While the fit of values has been recognised by many earlier behavioural studies, insight into the theoretical interface in mobile communication studies remains unsubstantiated. Therefore, this study explores the perceived consumption values on mobile apps behaviour and investigates the role of the rating of the apps and cost in influencing behaviour. A total of 392 questionnaires were collected through an online survey with 9 hypotheses examined. The analysis of the structural equation modelling determined a final model with four significant factors (functional, social, emotional, and conditional values). It confirmed that the usage is influenced by the apps rating and cost towards a certain degree. This study indicates the potential significance variables in mobile consumer literature and sheds light on mobile communication marketing in the area of apps marketing, specifically in designing effective user-experience (UX) apps for mobile consumers.
Abstract:Purpose: This paper aims to design an evaluation method that enables an organization to assess its current IT landscape and provide readiness assessment prior to Software as a Service (SaaS) adoption.Design/methodology/approach: The research employs a mixed of quantitative and qualitative approaches for conducting an IT application assessment. Quantitative data such as end user's feedback on the IT applications contribute to the technical impact on efficiency and productivity. Qualitative data such as business domain, business services and IT application cost drivers are used to determine the business value of the IT applications in an organization. Findings:The assessment of IT applications leads to decisions on suitability of each IT application that can be migrated to cloud environment. Research limitations/implications:The evaluation of how a particular IT application impacts on a business service is done based on the logical interpretation. Data mining method is suggested in order to derive the patterns of the IT application capabilities. Practical implications:This method has been applied in a local council in UK. The Pervasive Healthcare Information Provision (PHIP) is a concept that ensures patients are covered with healthcare services with the appropriate information provision together with the technical infrastructure when needed. Clinicians can obtain the real-time information by accessing the electronic patient record that supports decision-making in providing health services. PHIP aims to provide comprehensive healthcare services to its stakeholders covering the social and technical aspect. Information architecture is a high-level map of information requirements of an organisation that possesses business processes and information flows. Organisational semiotics, a fundamental theory for information and communication, helps in understanding the nature of information. It deals with information and information systems in a balanced way, taking account of both the physical space (when physical actions take place) and the information space (which are mainly characterised by information and communication using signs, symbols, and data). Information sharing among multi-stakeholders in decision-making is essential for pervasive healthcare. The information architecture can be reflected in information systems implementation such as Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and other forms. The aim of this chapter is to derive a conceptual model of information architecture for PHIP, including technological implementation via wireless technology. The information architecture serves as requirement engine that covers social and technical needs from both patients and clinicians. The contribution of this research is two fold: 1) establishing the theoretical perspective of information architecture, which serves as backbone to support PHIP, and 2) implementing PHIP via wireless technology and agent-based system.
