When performing the inspection of subway tunnels, there is an immense amount of data to be collected and the time available for inspection is short; however, the requirement for inspection accuracy is high. In this study, a mobile laser scanning system (MLSS) was used for the inspection of subway tunnels, and the key technology of the positioning and orientation system (POS) was investigated. We utilized the inertial measurement unit (IMU) and the odometer as the core sensors of the POS. The initial attitude of the MLSS was obtained by using a static initial alignment method. Considering that there is no global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signal in a subway, the forward and backward dead reckoning (DR) algorithm was used to calculate the positions and attitudes of the MLSS from any starting point in two directions. While the MLSS passed by the control points distributed on both sides of the track, the local coordinates of the control points were transmitted to the center of the MLSS by using the ranging information of the laser scanner. Then, a four-parameter transformation method was used to correct the error of the POS and transform the 3-D state information of the MLSS from a navigation coordinate system (NCS) to a local coordinate system (LCS). This method can completely eliminate a MLSS’s dependence on GNSS signals, and the obtained positioning and attitude information can be used for point cloud data fusion to directly obtain the coordinates in the LCS. In a tunnel of the Beijing–Zhangjiakou high-speed railway, when the distance interval of the control points used for correction was 120 m, the accuracy of the 3-D coordinates of the point clouds was 8 mm, and the experiment also showed that it takes less than 4 h to complete all the inspection work for a 5–6 km long tunnel. Further, the results from the inspection work of Wuhan subway lines showed that when the distance intervals of the control points used for correction were 60 m, 120 m, 240 m, and 480 m, the accuracies of the 3-D coordinates of the point clouds in the local coordinate system were 4 mm, 6 mm, 7 mm, and 8 mm, respectively.
A novel image passive forensics method for copy-move forgery detection is proposed. The proposed method combines block matching technology and feature point matching technology, and breaks away from the general framework of the visual feature-based approach that used local visual feature such as SIFT and followed by a clustering procedure to group feature points that are spatially close. In our work, image keypoints are extracted using Harris detector, and the statistical features of keypoint neighborhoods are used to generate forensics features. Then we proposed a new forensics features matching approach, in which, a region growth technology and a mismatch checking approach are developed to reduce mismatched keypoints and improve detected accuracy. We also develop a duplicate region detection method based on the distance frequency of corresponding keypoint pairs. The proposed method can detect duplicate regions for high resolution images. It has higher detection accuracy and computation efficiency. Experimental results show that the proposed method is robust for content-preserving manipulations such as JPEG compression, gamma adjustment, filtering, luminance enhancement, blurring, etc.
Structural health monitoring (SHM) is vital for ensuring the service safety of aging bridges. As one of the most advanced sensing techniques, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) could capture massive spatiotemporal information for effective bridge structural health monitoring (BSHM). Unfortunately, GNSS measurements often contain outliers due to various factors (e.g., severe weather conditions, multipath effects, etc.). All such outliers could jeopardize the accuracy and reliability of BSHM significantly. Previous studies have examined the feasibility of integrating the conventional multi-rate Kalman filter (MKF) with an adaptive algorithm in the data processing processes to ensure BSHM accuracy. However, frequent parameter adjustments are still needed in tedious data processing processes. This study proposed an outlier detection method using a Nelder-Mead simplex robust multi-rate Kalman filter (RMKF) for supporting trustworthy BSHM using GNSS and accelerometer. In the end, the authors have validated the proposed method using the monitoring data collected at the Wilford Bridge in the UK. Results showed that the accuracy of the total dynamic vibration displacement time series has been improved by 21% compared with the results using the conventional MKF approach. The authors envision that the proposed method will shed light on reliable and explainable data processing policy and trustworthy BSHM.
