An improved low-Reynolds-numberk-turbulence model is proposed. The model is designed not only to conform with the near-wall characteristics obtained with direct numerical simulation data but also to possess the correct asymptotic behavior in the vicinity of the wall. The key features of this model are the adoption of the Taylor microscale in the damping function and the inclusion of the pressure diffusion terms in the k and equations. Further applicationsof the present model to a two-dimensionalbackward-facing step ow indicate that the present model reproduces correctly the skin-friction and near-wall heat transfer coef cients.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
