Interpolation filters are widely used in many communication and multimedia applications. Recently, FIR interpolation method using supplementary filters was proposed to improve the performances of polynomial interpolation methods. In this paper, we propose a weighted interpolation method using supplementary filter which can be efficiently applied to XRF spectroscopy. It is shown that the proposed method achieves more accurate results compared with conventional interpolation filters with reduced hardware cost. The proposed system is implemented and tested using Altera Excalibur FPGA in an SoC design kit.
Interpolation filters are widely used in many communication and multimedia applications. Polynomial interpolation computes the coefficients of the polynomial according to the input information to obtain the interpolated value. Recently, FIR interpolation method using supplementary filters was proposed to improve the performances of polynomial interpolation methods. In this paper, we propose a weighted interpolation method using supplementary filter to further increase the performances of the interpolation filters. Examples and simulation results show that the proposed approach exhibits improved performances compared with the original supplementary filter-based interpolation method.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
