Kajian mengenai muzik tradisional semakin mendapat tempat dalam kalangan para sarjana, khususnya melibatkan salah satu muzik Malaysia, iaitu lagu Melayu Asli. Hasilnya, terdapat banyak artikel yang mengkaji lagu Melayu Asli, baik dari kaca mata instrumentalis mahupun dari sudut nyanyian vokal. Artikel ini melampirkan tinjauan dalam lagu Melayu Asli, berfokuskan pada ciri-ciri yang terkandung di dalamnya. Metodologi yang digunakan untuk meninjau ciri lagu Melayu Asli ini menggunakan analisis dokumen kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis kandungan daripada artikel dan diskografi lagu Melayu Asli. Bagi meningkatkan kesahan dapatan yang diperolehi daripada artikel dan diskografi, triangulasi dilakukan dengan kaedah temu bual. Rumusannya, ciri-ciri umum lagu Melayu Asli boleh dilihat dari aspek berikut: struktur asal komposisi lagu Melayu Asli berasaskan struktur AB, kemudian ditambah dengan bahagian intro, interlud dan outro. Rentak asli atau senandung ini dimainkan dalam tempo yang perlahan, sekitar 55 sehingga 75 bit per minit. Akhir sekali, ciri yang harus ada dalam komposisi lagu Melayu Asli ialah melodi pengantar lagu, iaitu satu rangkai melodi pendek yang dimainkan sebelum atau selepas melodi utama atau melodi nyanyian. Ciri pengantar lagu ini juga seperti fungsi counter-melody yang melengkapi melodi utama dalam lagu Melayu Asli.
Every music have their own unique identities. All these inimitable feature is something that need to be expose and publish, or else it it perish. With that in mind, this paper explore or as titled suggested, “Take a Peek!” into Lagu Melayu Asli or Malay Asli song. In doing so, an extensive documents analysis was conducted as our methodology processes. After relevant documents in Lagu Melayu Asli gathered, we using qualitative content analysis technique to investigate most distinctive characters in Lagu Melayu Asli. To strengthen our arguments, personal interview were conducted. In discussion, a discourse of summarizing facts that found within literature presented in two dimensional ways, instrumentation related in Lagu Melayu Asli and musicological aspect of Lagu Melayu Asli.
2020 is a very challenging year because of the covid-19 pandemic and this completely changed the music education landscape. In the past, learning musical instruments could be done face to face, now it is impossible. If no action is taken, this situation could cause stress among students, especially those who learning gamelan ensemble instruments. Unlike other musical instruments, the ensemble gamelan is expensive and student cant afford to buy it. That is why set of gamelan is only owned by the university and placed in the faculty only. Due to this, students who live far away are unable to practice their gamelan instrument due to movement control order these days. Therefore, this study introduces Gamelan E-Learning Techniques, which is the concept of learning gamelan basic hand techniques using a simulation methods for keromong, gambang, saron and gendang. The uniqueness of this study is due to the emphasis on the basic hand techniques of gamelan. By using google class application as well, lecturers can upload learning videos as well as assessment of student game techniques online can be done. This study uses experimental case study method with qualitative approach. The participants consisted of second semester of 36 students who attended the AME 3082 gamelan course at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).
The current direction of education is changing towards digital education, known as information and communication technology (ICT). Educators can choose the right digital platform to use as a teaching aid among media that has a place among Generation Z, one of which is TikTok. Nevertheless, from several selected platforms cannot be separated from the inherent consequences and challenges. This study aims to discuss the use of Tiktok in the music learning process, both as a teacher and a student. The research method used is qualitative analysis to get an in-depth understanding of the use of Tiktok, which focuses on music knowledge. The results of this study show the advantages and disadvantages of using the Tiktok application in Music Education.
The musical composition, entitled Kelampan Bajang, is the main narrative of the composition theme about the story of the journey of the young Sasak tribe which is semiotically depicted in three different times, namely morning, afternoon, and night. This composition emerged due to several phenomena found, including 1) there are no complete Sasak songs in transcripts and arrangements, 2) many musicians arrange songs in Sasak but often cause controversy in lyrics and music, 3) many talented young musicians cover repeating noname songs on several songs performed by many pop singers in Lombok, 4) many sasak pop songs but most of them do not represent local culture in terms of lyrics and music. This paper aims to explain the initial process of musical composition with the theme Kelampan Bajang including 1) Bekuliq, 2) Bekayaq, 3) Matur Tampiasih, 4) Sepi Alam Dese, 5) Lalo Midang, and 6) Merariq. All song lyrics are written in the Sasak language. The research uses the autoethnographic method to discuss the problem, how the idea of creating musical compositions can be aligned with the diversity of musical culture in Lombok. After conducting an in-depth study, the author concluded that in order to create a compositional work that could represent regional culture and not cause controversy among the public, namely 1) the author inserted an exploration of the pelog and slendro melodic motifs in the vocal melody section as regional identity, 2) the author inserted the motif the melodies of pelog and slendro in the musical arrangement section, and 3) the author uses good and correct local language lyrics that are in accordance with the regional culture in Lombok.
