Este texto tem como objetivo analisar o surto epidêmico de peste bubônica que ocorreu em Salvador, em 1928. A ênfase está na presença da doença em três dimensões sociais: o conhecimento científico, as disputas políticas e as ações do estado. São utilizados como fonte periódicos soteropolitanos como Diário da Bahia, Diário de Notícias e A Tarde, teses da Faculdade de Medicina da Bahia e relatórios da Secretaria de Saúde e Assistência Pública. Conclui-se que a doença atravessou diferentes dimensões do contexto estudado e revela interesses, conflitos e tensões que moviam os atores sociais.
Este texto tem como objetivo analisar o papel das Delegacias de Saúde no processo da Reforma Sanitária que ocorreu na Bahia na década de 1920. A ideia é discutir questões ligadas às políticas sanitárias que foram implementadas após a criação da Subsecretaria de Saúde e Assistência Pública e do Código Sanitário, ambos em 1925. O texto apresenta o contexto da cidade de Salvador e aponta alguns problemas sanitários e urbanos décadas antes da Reforma Sanitária de 1920, assim como questões políticas que contribuíram para os acontecimentos. As fontes utilizadas nesta pesquisa foram: relatórios das Delegacias de Saúde; relatórios do Subsecretário de Saúde da época; leis e decretos sanitários; Mensagens dos Governadores e matérias de jornais. Buscou-se criar uma rede de atendimento, vinculada à Sub-Secretaria de Saúde e Assistência Pública que tinha como base o Código Sanitário. Alguns órgãos tiveram participação ativa durante esse processo, um exemplo importante são as Delegacias de Saúde e, assim, contribuindo para a articulação do estado com as políticas sanitárias nacionais.
