The method of adjustment of model was used to estimate and parameters of gamma distribution, and Kolmogorov-Smirnov's test assessed the model's fitting to the data. Gamma distribution fitted to observed data of all months of the year (p < 0.05). From the adjusted distribution, the monthly rainfall was estimated for the probability levels of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 75, 80, 90 and 95%, which correspond to occurrence of probable minimum precipitation P(X > x). The results showed that the monthly mean rainfall, for all months of the year, occurred at probability level of 31.93% with variation coefficient of 3.63%. Considering these results, it is proved that the found mean values should not be used as parameters in agricultural projects. For all months of the year, the difference between monthly mean rainfall and probable rainfall were 64.49 mm (51.3%) and 73.03 mm (58.1%), at probability levels of 75 and 80% respectively.
SIMULATION OF THE YIELD AND CLIMATIC RISKS TO CORN "OUT SEASON" INLONDRINA -PR, BRAZIL, WITH THE CERES-MAIZE MODEL SUMMARY: Mathematics models are able to simulate realistically the growth and the phasic development of cultures under wide range of environmental and management conditions, with a low cost. The objective of this work was to investigate the effects of the sowing time in the management and yield of the corn "out season", Londrina County -PR, Brazil, by long period simulations using the CERES model. The treatments consisted of 12 sowing times simulations, from January to April under two different scenarios: without water limitation (potential production) and with water limitation, being assumed a precocious cycle cultivar, XL-520, for 24 years. The results showed decreases of yields of up to 38% in the potential productivity and of 44% in the productivity under water restriction to the late sowings due to the coincidence of the critical periods of development with sub-great temperature, water and solar radiation conditions. Increases were observed in the cycle duration of 120 to 140 days when the corn was sowed in January, and of 160 to 170 days for sowing in April. The longest cycle influences in the sequence of cultivations, and sowings after the 3 o sowing time of March only will allow the cultivation of the Summer culture after October. There was also tendency of increasing the establishment risks in the cultivation, due to the water deficiency, a...
The objective of this work was to analyze the frequency distribution and intensity temporal variability of intense rainfall for Lages/SC from diary pluviograph data. Data on annual series of maximum rainfalls from rain gauges of the CAV-UDESC Weather Station in Lages/SC were used from 2000 to 2009. Gumbel statistic distribution was applied in order to obtain the rainfall height and intensity in the following return periods: 2, 5, 10, 15 and 20 years. Results showed intensity-duration-frequency curves (I-D-F) for those return periods, as well as I-D-F equations:
