Esta investigación tuvo por objeto describir cambios en los hábitos alimentarios y factores relacionados percibidos por los estudiantes de enfermería de la Universidad El Bosque, durante su proceso de formación académica, como una contribución al conocimiento de esta problemática, con miras a fortalecer estilos de vida saludables en la comunidad universitaria, por medio de la promoción de hábitos alimentarios adecuados, para lo cual se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal.
La población de estudio estuvo constituida por los alumnos matriculados de primero a décimo semestre, durante el primer período académico del año 2007, en la Facultad de Enfermería de la Universidad El Bosque. Se excluyeron todos los estudiantes que tenían algún tipo de patología relacionada y adquirida antes de su ingreso a la Universidad, tales como gastritis, estreñimiento e hipoglicemia, entre otras. Se contrastaron los hábitos alimentarios que tenían antes del inicio de su carrera con los adquiridos posteriormente durante su proceso de formación profesional.
Los resultados del estudio mostraron que el 43% de los estudiantes de enfermería tienen hábitos alimentarios inadecuados, atribuyéndolos a la falta de tiempo y a la poca variedad en la oferta de platos dentro de la universidad. Por lo anterior se recomendó: 1. Fomentar la importancia de una alimentación balanceada para el mantenimiento de la salud, la prevención de enfermedades y el desarrollo integral del cuerpo humano, a través de la estrategia de información, comunicación y educación IEC- dirigida a los estudiantes; 2. Promocionar el incremento de la variedad de ofertas de platos, a través de la ampliación de menús o de la creación de nuevos sitios de alimentación dentro del campus universitario, y 3. Realizar nuevas investigaciones para profundizar en el conocimiento de ésta problemática, con miras a mejorar y fortalecer los hábitos alimentarios en los estudiantes, para mantener la salud, prevenir enfermedades y permitir el desarrollo integral de su organismo
El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar la adherencia a las sesiones de hemodiálisis de 71 pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica (IRC), que asistieron a las sesiones programadas por el Hospital Militar Central, entre los meses de abril, mayo y junio de 2007. Para recolectar la información se utilizaron dos cuestionarios: el primero, para caracterizar la población de estudio, y el segundo, para registrar la asistencia. En los resultados se halló un porcentaje de cumplimiento del 98.6% (1939 sesiones cumplidas de 1967 programadas); por tanto, sólo se incumplió el 1.4% (28) de las sesiones. Entre los factores que permitieron mantener la adherencia a las sesiones de hemodiálisis se identificaron: la concientización de estos pacientes sobre las consecuencias de la inasistencia a las sesiones de hemodiálisis, que los expone al descontrol de la enfermedad y a que el tratamiento sea ineficaz; la conformidad con el horario de las sesiones; la satisfacción con el personal de salud que los atiende y la aceptación de la enfermedad.
Éste artículo tiene por objeto describir y analizar los aspectos más relevantes de la leptospirosis, como problema de salud pública y los hallazgos clínicos e histopatológicos en un caso de leptospirosis humana, ocurrido en Tres Esquinas – Caquetá, atendido por una institución estatal prestadora de servicios de salud y confirmado por el laboratorio de patología del Instituto Nacional de Salud, en Bogotá-Colombia, en el 2004, como contribución al proceso de formación de estudiantes del área de la salud, sobre diagnóstico, prevención y control de ésta zoonosis.
En la revisión realizada se encontró un comportamiento endemo-epidémico de la leptospirosis en Colombia, especialmente en las Regiones Costa Atlántica y Centro-Oriente y un desconocimiento de su situación en las demás regiones del país
El caso humano descrito presentó la forma grave o ictérica de leptospirosis o síndrome de Weil, según manifestaciones clínicas, análisis epidemiológico y evidencias histopatológicas.
Se recomienda informar a la comunidad y capacitar al personal de salud sobre las acciones de vigilancia, prevención y control de la leptospirosis humana; establecer un diagnostico diferencial frente a pacientes con cuadro febril, eruptivo, ictérico o icterohemorrágico; notificar todo caso sospechoso de leptospirosis a la autoridad sanitaria competente; investigar los contactos y las posibles fuentes de infección; aplicar las normas de bioseguridad en el manejo de la sangre, la orina y demás fluidos corporales de los pacientes; realizar manejo integral, oportuno y adecuado de los casos; fortalecer la investigación epidemiológica; e implementar un sistema de vigilancia y control en salud pública para leptospirosis humana, entre otras.
