The aim of this article is to study the influence of the natural surroundings on social organization, as concerns three saharian societies : Tubu, Touareg, Moorish. In spite of similar surroundings, those three societies have strongly different social organizations, specially on the political level : anarchy prevails for the Tubus; on the contrary a very strict hierarchy exists in the Mornsh society of the Adrar emirate, while the Touareg social organization stands mid-way between those two extremes.
