Dans la perspective des scénarios pour les tendances des précipitations établis par les modèles pour la fin du XXIe siècle, nous nous sommes interrogées sur l’existence possible d’une amorce d’un changement pluviométrique dans la deuxième moitié du XXe siècle dans le sud-est méditerranéen français. En plus des précipitations totales mensuelles, nous avons étudié au pas de temps mensuel le nombre de jours de pluie, les précipitations quotidiennes moyennes et le niveau du 95ème centile entre 1950-51 et 1999-2000. Nous avons procédé à leurs régionalisations par des Analyses en Composantes Principales avec Rotation. Dans les trois régions obtenues seuls quelques mois montrent une diminution significative des totaux mensuels de pluies : octobre à l’est du Rhône, novembre dans la vallée du Rhône et mars à l’ouest du Rhône. Ces diminutions sont associées dans les deux premières régions à une diminution significative des moyennes quotidiennes de pluie et dans la dernière région à une diminution significative du nombre de jours de pluie. Parallèlement à cela, la part des précipitations supérieures au 95ème centile a augmenté au cours de la deuxième moitié du XXe siècle de part et d’autre du Rhône. Les diminutions significatives des précipitations sont en relation significative inverse avec les pressions de surface locales.
