O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o autocuidado em pacientes com hipertensão arterial em seguimento clínico na atenção primária à saúde e sua relação com o risco cardiometabólico. Trata-se de estudo transversal exploratório que avaliou o autocuidado por meio da versão brasileira da Escala de Autocuidado de Hipertensão (Self-care of Hypertension Inventory – SC-HI) e o risco cardiometabólico por meio do escore de risco cardiometabólico de Framingham. A amostra (n=23) foi composta por mulheres (73,9%) com 61,1 anos de idade; brancas (47,8%), casadas (60,9%), com 6,4 anos de estudos, economicamente ativas (52,2%), renda familiar mensal média de R$3.042,95; com queixas de cefaleia (34,8%), palpitação (26,1%), edema (26,1%) e fadiga (26,1%). As condições clínicas associadas mais frequentes foram diabetes mellitus (47,8%) e dislipidemia (43,5%). Houve níveis satisfatórios no domínio Confiança para o Autocuidado do SC-HI e risco cardiometabólico de 38,8% nos próximos 10 anos. Foram encontrados maiores níveis de Confiança entre os homens (74,9), de cor preta (84,6) e maior risco cardiometabólico entre homens (41,4%) e pardos (44,2%). Os pacientes com hipertensão arterial atendidos nesta unidade básica de saúde parecem possuir confiança para realizar comportamentos de autocuidado. Sugere-se a condução de estudos futuros com incremento do tamanho amostral, bem como estudos longitudinais que avaliem a manutenção do autocuidado ao longo do tempo.
