RESUMOPalavras-chave adicionais: Brachiaria brizantha, Panicum maximum, patógeno. Além disso, a presença de patógenos nas sementes constitui entrave para a exportação de sementes (2, 3).Amostras de lotes comerciais de sementes de cultivares Brachiaria sp. e Panicum maximum da safra 2009/2010 e produzidas em diferentes regiões produtoras do país foram analisadas quanto à This study aimed to assess the incidence of fungi and nematodes in Bra c h ia ria sp. a nd Pa n ic u m ma x imu m seeds produ ced in the Brazilia n sta tes of Ma to Grosso do Sul (MS), Ma to Grosso (MT ), Goiás (GO), Minas Gerais (MG) and São Paulo (SP).
Reação à Bipolaris maydis, agente causal da mancha foliar, em híbridos apomíticos dePanicum maximum Leaf spot, caused by Bipolaris maydis, is the main disease affecting Panicum maximum. Selection of resistant genotypes is the best strategy to control this disease. With the aim of identifying sources of resistance to leaf spot in P. maximum, 92 apomictic hybrids, originated from crosses between cultivars Tanzania-1 and Mombaça, and other three sexual genotypes were tested. Using ABSTRACTa randomized block design, with eight replicates, plants were inoculated when they were 30 days old and were evaluated for the disease severity after 12 days. There were significant differences (P<0.05) in the resistance to leaf spot for genotypes both within and among progenies. Resistant hybrids were detected, and genotypes MS81, A109, B109, B89 and A4 were more resistant.
