El objetivo de ésta investigación fue evaluar el efecto de diferentes dosis de fertilización orgánica-mineral en el rendimiento de grano y altura de planta de amaranto; además, de determinar si existe correlación alguna entre las densidades de plantas y el rendimiento. El diseño experimental utilizado fue bloques completamente al azar con cuatro repeticiones. El experimento se condujo bajo el sistema tradicional de siembra directa durante los ciclos de cultivo (2014-2015). Los tratamientos se obtuvieron por medio de la matriz Plan Puebla I, los factores y niveles de estudio fueron: nitrógeno (20, 40, 80 y 100 kg ha-1), fósforo (0, 20, 40 y 60 kg ha-1) y composta de estiércol de bovino (0.5, 1, 2 y 3 t ha-1), agregándose 40 kg ha-1 de potasio a los tratamientos y el testigo (00-00-00-00). Las variables evaluadas fueron rendimiento de grano por m2, rendimiento por planta y altura de planta. Al momento del corte de panoja también se contó el número de plantas por unidad experimental con la finalidad de correlacionar la densidad de plantas y el rendimiento. Se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas (Tukey, p< 0.05) en altura de planta, rendimiento por planta y rendimiento por m2; en ambas variables de rendimiento el mejor tratamiento fue 80-20-00 kg ha-1 de N-P-K más una tonelada de composta. Se encontró una correlación negativa significativa (r= -0.38982; Pearson, p< 0.05) entre el número de plantas y altura de planta; y entre número de plantas y rendimiento por planta (r= -0.73993; Pearson, p< 0.05).
El amaranto (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.) es un componente estructural en lossistemas de agricultura familiar de Tochimilco, Puebla. No obstante, existen localmente una serie de limitantes para la producción y comercialización de este cultivo. El objetivo de la investigación fue generan una estrategia que contribuya a fortalecer la producción ycomercialización de amaranto. La estrategia se generó con la metodología de marco lógico utilizando información recopilada mediante un muestreo aleatorio y estratificado. Se definieron diferentes actividades agrupadas en cinco líneas de acción. Para el logro de la estrategia es indispensable la colaboración conjunta de los productores y sus familias, las instituciones de enseñanza-investigación con presencia en el municipio y el gobierno local.

El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar la respuesta de Amaranthus hypochondriacus L. raza Mercado a la densidad de plantas y dosis de fertilización en las variables: rendimiento, altura de planta, diámetro de tallo, tamaño de panoja, e índice de plantas acamadas. Los factores de estudio fueron: densidad (D) de plantación (156 250, 208 333 y 260 417 plantas ha-1), niveles de nitrógeno (40, 80 y 120 kg ha-1), niveles de potasio (cero y 20 kg ha-1) y aplicación de 40 kg ha-1 de fósforo como una constante. El arreglo de tratamientos consistió en una factorial 3x3x2 en un diseño experimental de bloques completamente al azar con cuatro repeticiones y 18 tratamientos. El experimento se realizó en los ciclos de cultivo 2017 y 2018 en Tochimilco, Puebla, México. Las labores de cultivo se realizaron acorde al itinerario técnico del sistema convencional de siembra directa que consiste en colocar en cada hoyo de siembra un número variable de semillas para asegurar que en cada hoyo crezcan varias plantas y posteriormente realizar un aclareo, en el que se arrancan las plantas más pequeñas y se dejan tres, cuatro o cinco plantas en cada hoyo de siembra dependiendo de la experiencia de cada agricultor. Los resultados muestran diferencias altamente significativas (p< 0.01) en rendimiento, altura de planta, longitud y ancho de panoja por efectos individuales e interacciones de D, N*K y N*K*D. Se concluyó, que la decisión que toman los productores de dejar tres, cuatro o cinco plantas por hoyo de siembra es una decisión determinante en la producción del amaranto.
