Los Centros de Procesamiento y Mercadeo de Alimentos (Cepromas) fueron creados en el 2008 por el Gobierno de la República de Costa Rica en zonas de alta vulnerabilidad socioeconómica y son administrados por organizaciones de pequeños productores. Estos tienen el propósito de mejorar la economía rural campesina y la disponibilidad de alimentos básicos, además de desarrollar ideas innovadoras. Existen al menos siete Cepromas que procesan frijol, ubicados en la Zona Norte, Zona Sur y Región Chorotega; siendo la primera, la zona de mayor producción a nivel nacional. Por lo anterior, el objetivo principal de esta investigación es determinar un sistema de rutas inteligentes de transporte para que los Cepromas de San Blas, La Palmera y Llano Bonito, ubicados en la Zona Norte, puedan convertirse en un ente comercializador de frijol 100% costarricense en diferentes mercados del país. Para definir las rutas de menor costo entre los centros de procesamiento y los mercados de destino, se implementó el Método de Aproximación de Vogel, basado en los principios de programación lineal. Además, se estimó la demanda y la oferta respectiva para los mercados de interés y los Cepromas. Entre los resultados obtenidos se identificó la necesidad para los Cepromas de interés de comprar frijol a Cepromas de la Zona Sur, con el fin de evitar un desabastecimiento de los mercados potenciales cuando la Zona Norte no está en época de producción. También, se determinaron las inversiones necesarias en vehículos para transporte del producto y se estimaron costos de transporte que varían entre ₡6.974 y ₡17.378 por tonelada, dependiendo de la época.
Se procedió a realizar el avalúo de una finca ubicada en Cipreses de Oreamuno, en la provincia de Cartago, Costa Rica, que actualmente se dedica al cultivo de hortalizas y se encuentra en periodo de transición para la producción orgánica. A futuro, se pretende ejecutar un proyecto de inversión en infraestructura, por lo que resulta indispensable conocer el valor actual de la finca y el valor con las mejoras respectivas. Según la capacidad de uso de la tierra, el terreno se clasifica como IIIe1c1 con una pendiente de 9% y se ubica en una zona de Bosque muy Húmedo Premontano. Para realizar el avalúo del terreno se implementaron distintos métodos utilizados en la tasación, incluidos el econométrico, comparativo y financiero; y se realizó un promedio simple de los tres métodos anteriores que permitió estimar el precio/m2 en ₡6.182, para un valor total del terreno de ₡47.392.188 con un área de 7.675,75 m2. También, por medio del método de costeo directo y las tipologías de construcción, respectivamente, se estimó el valor de un invernadero establecido en la finca que asciende a ₡9.272.890 y la construcción de tres infraestructuras (una cabaña, un granero y un estanque), que corresponden al proyecto de inversión, generando un aumento de ₡106.657.646 en el valor total de la propiedad, incluyendo mejoras en el servicio eléctrico y en la vía de acceso terrestre.
Con este estudio de prefactibilidad se pretende conocer la viabilidad económica de un sistema de producción de maracuyá amarillo en la zona de San Pablo de Turrubares, en la provincia de San José, que cuenta con las condiciones edafoclimáticas óptimas para el desarrollo y la producción de la planta, considerando la comercialización del fruto en el mercado mayorista en el Centro Nacional de Abastecimiento y Distribución de Alimentos (CENADA). También se pretende generar conocimiento acerca de un producto no tradicional en el sector primario de la economía costarricense, fomentando el desarrollo, siendo esto una herramienta de consulta para productores interesados en conocer acerca de la rentabilidad del cultivo en cuanto a oportunidades de comercialización, y así fomentar la diversificación agrícola nacional a través de los productos no tradicionales. El periodo de evaluación para el proyecto fue de 7 años, tiempo que abarca dos ciclos completos del cultivo, lo que permitió conocer si el mismo es rentable a un mediano plazo. Para esto se elaboró y desarrolló el estudio técnico, socioeconómico y político, organizacional y legal, financiero y de mercado y un análisis de aspectos ambientales. Al finalizar el periodo de evaluación se obtuvo un Valor Actual Neto (VAN) de 1.073.470 colones y una Tasa Interna Retorno (TIR) del 20,42%, lo anterior a una tasa de costo de capital del 19,05%.
