Water resource management is an essential tool for more conscious and sustainable consumption of water. However, urban growth and the expansion of industrial activities intensify the use of water resources, causing significant impacts on the demand x availability relationship. This accelerated and disordered growth directly impacts the available natural resources, since the occupation of new areas without planning affects the soil, local vegetation and water resources. In this context, the impacts on the available water resources are great, therefore, the management of water resources is fundamental to guarantee the qualitative and quantitative inspection and control of water. The granting of the use of water resources is one of the main management tools established under Law No. 9.433/97 that regulates the National Water Resources Policy. Thus, this study aimed to survey the uses granted by the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability - SEMAS, to the municipality of Parauapebas-PA, in order to assess which are the main users and main purposes of water use in the region. An analysis was also carried out of changes in natural scenarios, which impact water resources. As a result of this study, it was found that the predominant uses for the municipality are to meet the mining activity, in which the highest flow rates granted are granted. The de-characterization of the soil in urban areas consists of aggravating and compromising the municipality's water resources, causing the silting up of water bodies. The application of greater inspection in installed enterprises will contribute to the adequate planning of urban expansion, as well as the control and use of urban land.
Impacts on global water resources may be intensifying due to the growing and differentiated forms of land use and occupation, which influence the water cycle and thus the maintenance of life. In the Amazon, the effect may be even worse, as it is one of the world's most vulnerable regions to these changes. This work aimed to analyze the response of the components of the water balance to changes in land use and cover in the Eastern Amazon over three decades (1980–2013). First, soil texture maps were prepared. These combined with the classes of use in each decade let us estimate the values of storage and variation in storage (ΔS) of water in the soil. The behavior of the components of the water balance [precipitation, potential evapotranspiration, actual evapotranspiration (E), and ΔS] were analyzed according to the Budyko model on the annual scale as a function of the aridity and evaporative indices. For the seasonal scale, a new parameter (y0) was introduced to explicitly represent the additional water available for E, in addition to instantaneous precipitation. The seasonality of the rains and the seasonal dynamics of storage were directly incorporated into the model developed, which allowed us to understand what the dominant control factors of water balance are. In the decade from 2000 to 2009, the remaining forest cover is only 48.91%, while the cover formed by pasture is 50.47%, meaning the water storage capacity in the soil decreased 8.1%. In the 1990s, to 1999, precipitation shows a reduction, probably as a reflection of the very strong events of La Niña and El Niño (1988–1989 and 1997–1998). Observing the sum of the surface area of water bodies in the region and the relationship of forest vs. pasture, it is possible to infer that the elevation in evapotranspiration is more related to the increase in evaporation due to the increase in the pasture area than to the reduction transpiration due to forest loss, reinforcing the hypothesis that evapotranspiration increases with pasture area.
Changes in the global climate are attributed to the levels of greenhouse gases. Thus, future scenarios (Representative Concentration Pathways – RCPs) have been developed to explore the impact of different climate policies on the world. The RCPs are essential tools for General Circulation Models (GCMs) to simulate future climate changes. Curves that associate Intensity, Duration and Frequency (IDF) are used in forecasts and are fundamental for the design of hydraulic projects and risk management. The objective of this study was to design IDF curves for the RCP 4.5 and 8.5, using data from the HadGEM2-ES, CanESM2 and MIROC5 models. The Equidistance Quantile Matching Method was used to design the IDF curves. The simulated curves presented differences when related to the existing curve. The largest differences were for the MIROC5 (146% in RCP 8.5) and the smallest differences were for the CanESM2 (−20.83% for RCP 8.5). This result demonstrates that the method incorporates changes in future climate variability. The spatial resolutions of each model influenced their IDF curves, which led the CanESM2 curves to not present satisfactory results that are different from the MIROC5 curves, which were the ones that best represented the possible future differences.

INTENSE RAINFALL EQUATIONS IN THE AMAZON REGION WITH DATA CPC MORPHING TECHNIQUE (CMORPH) 2 ABSTRACT Intense rainfall equations are fundamental for the design of hydraulic projects, however, in Amazon, it is difficult to obtain consistent historical series to generate these equations. Thus, the objective of this study was to use precipitation data obtained by satellite as a new alternative to generate intense rainfall equations. In addition to rain gauge data, precipitation data obtained as products of the Climate Prediction Center Morphing Technique (CMORPH) for the municipality of Altamira, PA were used. From the latter, three reading points were chosen in the municipality, called synthetic stations 1, 2 and 3. The I-type distribution (Gumbel) was used to generate IDF curves for different return times (TR) and durations. Synthetic stations 1 and 3 had good adjustments to the theoretical curves generated, but synthetic 2 underestimated the values, and presented the lowest average of extreme precipitation. IDF curves derived from the equations had a satisfactory coefficient of adjustment. In this way, it is possible to affirm that satellite data are viable alternatives in the generation of IDF curves, being essential for places where there are no historical records of precipitation.
