A politização de portadores do vírus HIV é um fenômeno que ganha notoriedade nacional e internacional. O presente estudo consiste, a partir da análise e descrição dos movimentos em defesa dos portadores de retroviroses, em uma revisão de literatura com temas correlatos da psiquiatria e das ciências políticas. Fica patente que, especificamente para os ativistas, o diagnóstico retroviral foi um fator precipitante de todo um rearranjo social e pessoal, que propiciou a construção de uma consciência política. Surge a necessidade de novos estudos para correlacionar dados sócio-demográficos e a experiência de politização em portadores do HIV. Palavras-chave: Politização -Consciência -Pauperização -Portadores doHIV. ABSTRACTThe politicization of HIV carriers is a phenomenon gaining national and international reputation. The present study is, based on the analysis and description of movements in defense of those with retroviruses, in a review of literature with related themes of psychiatry and political science. It is clear that, particularly for activists, retroviral diagnosis was a precipitating factor of an entire social and personal rearrangement, which allowed the construction of a political consciousness. Comes the need for new studies to correlate sociodemographic data and experience of politicization in HIV patients.
