Đặt vấn đề: Nhịp nhanh vào lại nút nhĩ thất là dạng phổ biến nhất của nhịp nhanh kịch phát trên thất. Rối loạn nhịp này thường gặp ở người trẻ và cắt đốt qua catheter là biện pháp điều trị đã được chứng minh tính hiệu quả và an toàn qua nhiều nghiên cứu trước đây. Tuy nhiên, người cao tuổi chưa được đánh giá về vấn đề này vì vậy dẫn đến những trì hoãn trong vấn đề điều trị. Mục tiêu: Xác định tính an toàn và hiệu quả của cắt đốt nhịp nhanh vào lại nút nhĩ thất bằng năng lượng tần số radio ở người cao tuổi tại bệnh viện đại học Y Dược thành phố Hồ Chí Minh. Đối tượng và phương pháp nghiên cứu: nghiên cứu cắt ngang mô tả theo trình tự thời gian. Gồm 207 bệnh nhân (72 người ≥ 60 tuổi) nhịp nhanh vào lại nút nhĩ thất được cắt đốt tại bệnh viện Đại học Y dược TP.HCM từ 1/2017 đến 12/2020. Kết quả: Tổng thời gian thủ thuật và thời gian chiếu tia cao hơn có ý nghĩa thống kê trên nhóm cao tuổi. Số lần bật máy đốt để triệt phá thành công đường chậm nhiều hơn. Tuy nhiên tỉ lệ thành công và tái phát tương tự giữa 2 nhóm. Một số biến chứng ghi nhận trong và sau thủ thuật bao gồm: tụ máu (1,4% so với 0%), phản xạ phế vị (0% so với 1,5%), blốc nhĩ thất hoàn toàn thoáng qua (1,4% so với 0,7%) và đặt máy tạo nhịp vĩnh viễn (1,4% so với 0%). Sự khác biệt không có ý nghĩa thống kê giữa 2 nhóm. Kết luận: Cắt đốt nhịp nhanh vào lại nút nhĩ thất bằng năng lượng tần số radio nên được xem là một lựa chọn điều trị an toàn và hiệu quả ở người cao tuổi.
